"I can’t give Enlightened Electrical enough stars. John and his wife were amazing to work with! John was extremely responsive, knowledgeable, and gave some great suggestions to solve the lighting issues that were driving me crazy in my brand new home. One of the projects was to hang a ceiling fan in a room where no lighting existed. I thought this would be a problem but John had it all figured out and had it wired and installed in no time. John and his wife cleaned everything up before they left and were extremely considerate while in my home – and kept me laughing the entire time. Pricing was extremely fair as well. I have additional electrical projects coming up and will definitely be using Enlightened again in the very near future."

"I was in a panic when my wires were glowing and sparking in my electrical panel box. I immediately switched off the main. It was 7:30 in the morning and now we were without water and power. Mr. Electric received my urgent call. They had Shawn here by 9:15! He was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. He upgraded my whole system, including a new panel box and circuit breakers. It was a stellar job. I could not be more pleased with this company's performance and quick response. I highly recommend them for any of your needs!"

"These guys were great! I needed a pool heater installed that needed a direct line from the circuit breaker box to the heater. They came out, gave a fair price and showed up the next day to install. They hit a few snags that made the job a little harder than they first thought, but stayed until the job was done and didn’t ask for more money like a different Electriton I hired. We will be hiring them again to install a ceiling fan in our living room that doesn’t have an electrical box. Five stars all around."

"We initially thought that there was a leak in the line for which a quote was provided. Once the line was uncovered to repair the leak it was discovered that the entire line (lead pipe which had been installed when the house was built in 1967) was corroded and would probably continue to spring leaks even after the first was repaired. The contractor recommended that the entire line be replaced although he was more than willing to repair only the leak for the initial estimate of $195. I agreed with his recommendation.
The repair was expected to take several days so the contractor ran a temporary supply line to the house so that we would not be without water.
We were totally satisfied with the work that was completed and that the employees were professional and courteous.

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Bowling Green, OH

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
