"Ardelean Construction installed a solid hickory floor in my house. Within 3?4 months, the floor buckled and lifted in multiple spots. A certified NWFA inspector confirmed the cause was improper installation: staples were used instead of cleats, spacing was off, and many staples didn?t even penetrate the subfloor. Some were twisted and provided no hold. The proper fastener for hickory is 15-gauge cleats, not staples. When I raised this with Emanuel (the owner), he admitted he couldn?t cover the $8k job and suggested I try to collect from his bond. That is not how bonds work and it shows a lack of accountability. Bottom line: the work failed fast, the response was inadequate, and I?m left with the mess. Do not hire this contractor. Photos show the buckled flooring before and after removal. I pulled up part of the failed section to check the subfloor myself ? it was sound. The problem was installation, not the house."
