"Joe and his team are the most professional contractors! They did an excellent job on our driveway last Spring and provided constant follow-ups with the best service. We are also excited to have them seal our driveway soon. This family business continues to exemplify professionalism and strong family values."

"David and Omar may come across as friendly, but I highly advise avoiding their resurfacing company at all costs. Their workmanship was shockingly careless?they rushed the entire project, leaving glaring roller marks, ugly footprints, and divots everywhere from smashed sticks. In the driveway extension areas, they clearly cut corners: the base was practically nonexistent, leading to immediate cracks and weeds springing up through what was supposed to be a "new" driveway. They've come back twice to slap on temporary fixes, but unsurprisingly, the problems keep returning because of their shoddy foundation work. Getting them to honor their warranty was a nightmare and took months of waiting. To top it off, their crew showed zero professionalism?rather than politely asking to use the restroom, they urinated on our shed right in view of our security cameras. Save yourself the frustration and choose a contractor who actually takes pride in their work and respects your property."

"Rich and his team were timely in reaching out to bid. Once we decided on them they set a date quickly for the work itself and, per their promise, the job was completed in less than one day. The quality and detail of the work was tremendous."

"We had a really positive experience with GAL. The entire crew - from the lead all the way across the team - were universally polite, skilled, hardworking and did a really good job. It was a ton of work and although there were a few mistakes along the way, as always happens, they were never anything less than fully reasonable and accommodating about fixing them."

"Terrible. The company did not install the driveway on the right side the same as the left (the left edge is saw cut for a flush finish). Grass is taking over my driveway. My driveway replaced in October 2020. There was no contact from the company, including offering to seal the driveway. In May 2022 I noticed grass growing up through the asphalt on the right side of the driveway and contacted the company. Joseph Beausoleil responded, “Unfortunately we cannot control vegetation in your yard. You may want to use a vegetation killer spray in areas you do not want grass.” Repeated attempts to get the company to repair the right side were ignored. In September 2022, I finally heard from Billy Watts who gave me an estimate of the repair (at no cost). Repeated efforts to schedule the repair have been ignored. Emails to the company bounce back. Phone calls go to voicemail and are not returned. I am still waiting for a repair as of 22 September 2023."

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Brentwood, MD

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
