Customers say: Super punctual

"We pulled old carpeting up and had issues with the old floor beneath. They had to join the floors of two rooms to a hallway by splicing new pieces of hardwood in because previous owners moved walls and just carpeted over the entire upstairs afterward. We hired them to splice in the threshold areas, and also remove the carpet that went down the stairs and refinish it all. They were fabulous, extremely nice to work with, super clean. We literally had no dust to speak of afterward. Great guys - we recommend them wholeheartedly!"

"It looked like new after they weaved in the pieces of wood, and then they sanded it down to a blonde color, and stained it a light walnut... We went with the satin finish because I think floors look terrible with high glass, and it looks absolutely brand new... The guys were amazing to work with.... And yes if I do the upstairs bedrooms with the hardwood floors, I am definitely calling them back. I'm teetering with the fact of putting carpet upstairs in the bedrooms but we'll see if I keep the hardwood, the floors are not in great shape look wise, so in the event I don't carpet...I'm 100% calling them back ... they were very reasonable with their pricing as well, and they were on time.... And finished in a very timely fashion...they were also very helpful moving stuff around for us....."

"Most anyone who has ever used a contractor has a tale of woe or wild story to share. Here⠠s my unusual experience: My wife and I hired Alterio Construction to strip/refinish three levels of hardwood floors and stairs while replacing all the ballusters and posts. Robert (and his team) showed up on time for the first meeting and every time thereafter⠦⠦.and the job was completed on schedule⠦⠦and the price was competitive⠦⠦and the workers were professional and pleasant⠦⠦and the job was beautifully done, exceeding our expectations⠦⠦.and Robert actually came back to execute some (minor) touch-ups on his own volition. Now, in our experience, taken all together, this is highly unusual. We highly recommend Robert and Alterio."

FAQs for wood flooring refinish projects in Brick, NJ

Rental sanders can address moderate surface damage, but their effectiveness depends on scratch depth and overall floor condition. Drum sanders offer the most aggressive removal capability for deeper imperfections. However, if the damage extends into the wood structure or affects large portions of the floor, board replacement by an expert might be necessary before sanding. Consult a flooring professional for help.

Always thoroughly review the manufacturer's operating instructions before starting. Wear appropriate safety gear, including goggles to protect your eyes and a respirator to prevent inhalation of dust. Inspect electrical components before each use to prevent shock hazards. Keep children and pets away from the work area, and maintain a clean space by frequently vacuuming dust accumulation to prevent slipping and to ensure you can see well.

Sandpaper requirements depend on floor size, condition, and the sanding approach. Plan to use multiple grit levels (coarse, medium, and fine) with at least one to two sheets per 100 square feet for each grit. Floors with significant damage or multiple finish layers will require more coarse-grit sheets. Purchase extra supplies before beginning because running out mid-project can cause visible inconsistencies in the final result.
