"Went very well. The company was a pleasure to deal with in all respects and did what they said, on schedule. It was a major job that involved excavating under a porch and extending drainage lines way into the back yard, completed over a couple of weeks. At the end of the project, I believed that the slope of a section of the reconstructed front walk was not quite right. Randy had his guys back out here within a couple of days to redo it. We'd had a major water problem in the basement since buying the house over 10 years ago. CWI did the waterproofing in the spring, and we've had a couple of long, heavy rains since then. Basement is now completely dry."

"Our house is in Morgantown, and we could not find anyone in Morgantown that could do this job. Because our house is and quot;historicand quot; (=old, built in 1928) we wanted it done by people who would do a good job. At first CW Stickley (in Fairmont, 25 miles away) said that they would not do it, because they did not want to come to Morgantown for a small job. I emailed them photos of our crumbling porch, steps, walk and swale, and they said they would do it. <br /> They agree to do it in August of 2012, and it did not get accomplished until August 2014. When they finally said they would be there, they were there on time. They did a very nice job. One hiccup was that they did not get the details of how far our property extended, so when they prepped the street and poured the concrete, they were several feet short, and we also wanted them to continue to our neighbor's driveway (another 8 feet or so that we would pay for). They were very agreeable, and did the job, but that and quot;extraand quot; 20 feet or so was an unexpected expense. <br /> They were not the best at communication (nor were we, and communication is a 2-way street). I'm in the military, and we were corresponding long-distance, and that was part of the problem with the communication. <br /> The end product looks great, and many people have stopped by and commented on how nice everything looks. We would use them again, and be more precise with communication and expectations. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"I found them on Angie's List. They were very responsive and called me back right away. They were busy and sent someone out within a week or so. He looked at our property, we had some steps that were eroding and we don't need their services at all. He suggested getting a general contractor and rerouting the water away from our house, the drainage. It was good. It was just an estimate, so there wasn't a charge. Since he couldn't see anything that they could do, then there was no charge. He was very helpful and honest. He was very knowledgeable and I felt he knew what he was talking about. I appreciated that he didn't try to do a service that we didn't need. They got very high reviews."

"This contractor is very trustworthy and efficient. He came in and did the work. He had a key to the house. He came in and moved what he needed to and then replaced the furniture that was there back where it was and he cleaned up after. We were very pleased with his work.  With the window job he told us it would take about three days unless it rained. He came in stuck to the job and had the job done in two days. We were so satisfied with his work we hired him to replace the front porch and have already gotten an estimate to do the siding work done on the house. His recommendations for the places we used for the windows and the siding were excellent. I of course got estimates from several places and spoke with other customers that had used the company that made the windows and liked what I heard. I would definitely reccommend Mr Lance to anyone."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Bridgeport, WV

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
