I would recommend hiring Elias if you get changes in writing. They cleaned up pretty well although they missed a few things due to finishing in the dark. Overall satisfied with the job and cost was 60% of other bids due to sheathing adjustment."

"We hired I5 to replace/upgrade 4 windows. We paid cash (1/2 up front and 1/2 when done). Initially, they did a great job communicating and scheduling. Upon installation, we received a cracked window which they stated was covered under the manufacturer's warranty and would return later to replace in 2 weeks. We accepted this response for the time being. The installation went further into the late night than expected. The installation itself was done well. It was difficult communicating with the staff that spoke broken Spanglish. As the crew was completing the installation I asked when they would return to paint the trim to match what was originally installed (the existing window trim was also hardy plank trim painted white; lifetime warranty). The crew nodded yes, yes, we paint later. This response was also acceptable and was willing to wait for a return trip to paint later since the day was already getting late. We began to be concerned when the communication suddenly stopped regarding the follow-up window trim painting and the replacement of the cracked window we received. At this point, I was not happy, especially after promptly paying off the remaining balance in cash on the day of installation. We contacted I5 asking when we could expect them to return with the follow-up painting and replacement of the window only to now find out that they were not sure and that the painting was not included in the contract. However, when re-reading the contract it clearly stated the painting which I pointed out to I5. They are excused was well that is just our standard language for only cases where we do include painting. What? I then responded that if I had known that is how they were gonna game me on this deal I would have stated then simply keep the existing painted window trim pieces you removed and reinstall them instead. Their response was well the hardy plank recipe has changed recently and the existing hardy we had only was a 30-year product - not a lifetime product. I disagreed with this assessment since the old hardy trim was barely 1 year old. So now we have to wait for some drier warmer days to paint it ourselves (since they said the added painting cost would be $1,800). Mind you Home Masters painted our entire house (window and siding trim included) for only $8,500 and they did a spectacular job. Also, I will have to caulk up the many nail holes that they did not complete on the window trim. When Home Masters installed our new hardy window last year they were careful to caulk all nail holes and seams. Home Masters told me that if this was not caulked properly then it would void the lifetime warranty. So much of I5 left me confident in what they did and can provide. I will not be recommending them to anyone in the future. Use Home Masters instead folks. Finally, now we are once again bugging I5 to give us an update on the cracked window issue."

"Jon and his crew came highly recommended from our friends and neighbors, and they are the best contractors I've ever worked with. We have had an extremely difficult leaking issue with our roof, which multiple companies have attempted to fix. When the leak came back during Portland's sudden monsoon rains, Jon dropped everything and came out to do a quick patch. When that didn't work, he came back two days later with a co-worker, on zero lead, to find the leaks and do a full reshingling. The two cheerily worked into the early dark to fix the roof that day. His rates are by far the best we've seen, and he's just naturally a gregarious guy and an obvious good person who will do whatever it takes for his customers.
