"Mr. Turner was great to work with.....his response to give me an estimate was quick. He explained what my double drive needed and what he could do to repair it. I was very satisfied with his cost. A date was set...and he and his crew arrived and provided a quality product...complete in just a few hours. I watched after it's first rain, the water rolled off, away from my house, Perfect! I love my new driveway and highly recommend Mr. Turner and his crew."

"Great! Initial job was for one day but since I had so much work took a day and half. They did great work, cleaned up and smoothed up the yard where the trees had fallen and damaged the yard. Would definitely hire again."

"My chimney was in serious need of repair. Steve did a high quality job to say the least. He was on time, professional and even did a thorough clean up when he finished the job. He was also very personable and I enjoyed our conversations. Definitely recommend!"

"I called late one evening ( non emergency) and they responded within minutes. They came out to our home and made repairs the next day. They were very professional and went to work on finding and solving the problem quickly. They had very reasonable rates. If needed, I will use again."

"Showed up late, but worked hard until well after dark. Did not get all leaves and debris out of the beds, but the edging and mulch was well- applied. I have also had them re-design and completely transform my back yard, and this work was done without compare. I LOVE my yard now. It was a mass of poison ivy and sasafrass trees- now it is an oasis. Thanks to Tim's designs, this was an amazing transformation (that was about $28,000). But worth it. <br />"

"Crew was very professional and respectful of my property and existing landscaping. Subs that poured the new concrete pad did an excellent job in framing the forms; fell short on the cleanup though. I found at least 6-8 large nails from the forms left in the dirt along the new pad and a styrofoam cup buried in my flower bed. Otherwise, great."

"We used A Cut Above for many months (almost a full year), and highly recommend them.  They cut the grass every two weeks for us, and were always quick and efficient.  Occasionally some minor details would be missed, but this didn't happen often, and we're not the type to be very picky about our lawn (though it always looked nice when they did it).  Overall, really really impressed. The only reason we stopped using them is because my husband started staying home, so he cuts our grass on the weekends now.  Otherwise, wouldn't have stopped! <br />"

"Average, they required a lot of direction and it took them several visits to complete a small job. They performed what was asked of them; however, I should have requested a firm price bid for the work since they took longer than expected. <br />"

"Michael (owner) is a great guy to work with and works hard to make sure that everything is done well and to the satisfaction of the customer. <br /> The job was pretty simple but my experience with contractors hasn't been the best since I moved to TN.  This project started out well, I could tell right away that he was very respectful of my home and family.  When we were walking around the house, I let him know that my 1 year old was sleeping inside and he immediately made his guys be quiet.  The funny thing was when we were leaving (I knew that the baby was awake but he didn't) I was talking at a normal volume near where she was sleeping and he reminded me that the baby was sleeping.  I really appreciated that he cared enough to do that and showed great respect for my family. <br /> On to the job.  His guys came by and did the drywall in a reasonable amount of time and did a good job.  They also helped move a rug and some furniture out of the way for my wife while I was gone so it wouldn't get dirty.  The fireplace was adjusted and lined up with the wall prior to putting up the drywall.  This part of the job went well. <br /> The tile portion did not go so smoothly although I don't blame Michael for this at all.  The normal tile guy was really sick and he didn't want to make me wait too long so he brought in another guy that he had worked with in the past.  This guy had many years of experience installing tile but he must have been having a bad day when he came to my house.  As my wife put it, "it looks like a 3 yr old did this" and "this is a tile job not an abstract art project".  The joints didn't line up and were all different sizes, tiles were cut at different widths on the ends.  It was so bad that I considered redoing it myself and even though I only have 1 tile job under my belt, it was much better than this mess. <br /> I called Michael who immediately asked me how much I liked the tile, he was quite surprised that my wife and I weren't happy.  I could tell that he expected to find some small detail to fix but he was very surprised when he saw the work.  I brought my wife down to talk about it and he said that no explanation was necessary, it was obvious to him that it was all wrong.  The result was a very strong talking to and firing of the tile guy.  Michael also told me that he doesn't pay for a job that he hires out until he personally inspects it.   <br /> Michael came out the next day and personally ripped out the bad tile and completed the job himself.  It turned out perfect, he showed me what a properly done tile job looks like.   <br /> Michael is now my go-to guy for home repairs (as soon as this rain lets up, he's going to repair a leaky window seal).  We are selling our house and I have no problem putting him on the list of recommended businesses for the next owner.  Individual workers come and go and you can't always depend on them all to do good work but if they work for Michael Thompson, everything will be right in the end even if he has to do it himself. <br />"

FAQs for brick and stone patios, walks, and steps installation projects in Bristol, TN

When cleaning your flagstone patio, begin by gently hosing off loose dirt and debris. Use a mild solution of white vinegar and water or diluted dish soap to scrub the surface with a soft-bristled brush. Avoid using abrasive tools, such as wire brushes, as they can damage the stone’s seal and finish. This careful approach effectively removes mold and grime while preserving the natural beauty of your patio.

Flagstone naturally offers a neutral palette that includes shades of grey, black, red, yellow, brown, and tan, and its inherent color cannot be altered. Choosing varieties like bluestone provides a subtle bluish tint that complements many exterior designs. These natural hues enhance curb appeal and create a refined, timeless look in your outdoor space, ensuring a sophisticated finish with minimal upkeep.

Flagstone for a patio must have a minimum thickness of 1.5 inches to reliably support furniture and foot traffic. Using stone that is two to three inches thick is recommended to ensure lasting durability. The increased thickness prevents cracking under load and enhances long-term performance. Investing in thicker flagstone provides superior stability and resistance to weather conditions, ensuring your outdoor space remains both safe and attractive.

You can paint a flagstone patio by using a high-quality, outdoor elastomeric latex paint designed for heavy foot traffic. Painting not only refreshes the patio’s appearance but also creates a waterproof barrier that protects the stone from damage. Regular reapplication every one to two years maintains its durability and visual appeal, ensuring your patio remains both stylish and well-protected.
