"This pro provided useful information via a virtual (online) video consultation. Since this service does not send technicians to the home, they did not do the actual work. I am considering whether to order parts and try to complete the repair myself or under their virtual direction."

"I had a question about microwave repair. He answered all my questions and was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Unfortunately new parts are no longer available for model in question. He gave me part # if I wanted to call around for a used part somewhere. Got lots of good info."

"I wish I had used these people earlier. I ordered a part for my dryer and was able through their instructional video to fix it myself. Let me tell you I am "mechanically challenged" in just about every way. LOL I may have cut myself through my own stupidity but I did it. it was easy and I did not have to pay a repair man for a simple fix. Thank you so much!"

"I have Rescue Link's Single PC Pack which is an extended warranty for my laptop and also has unlimited tech support.  I use the tech support every month to run a PC tune up and it doesn't cost me any sort of fee or deductible beyond what my monthly charge is.  My laptop is three years old and I purchased this warranty earlier this year.  I recently spilled a soda on my laptop and called to file a claim.  This warranty covers accidental damage for laptops and tablets so I was able to call to file a claim.  They answered the phone and asked a few questions like: what is the serial number of the laptop, what operating system do you use and about how much did you pay for the laptop.  After answering these questions, they told me that my claim was approved and that I would receive a postage paid box within two business days.  I received the box with the materials required to safely ship my laptop.  It was actually kind of funny because they even provided a premeasured length of tape to close the box.  I filled out the paper asking for my password (so that they can get into the computer to make sure that the repairs were completed) and took the box to the UPS drop off site.  Two days later I got a call stating that they received the box and would start repairs.  Three days after that, they called me and told me that they had everything except the keyboard fixed and were just waiting on the new keyboard.  Two days later, I was told that they had the keyboard and would be shipping me my repaired computer and I should receive it in two to three business days.  All said, it only took seven days from the time that they received my computer for me to get it back.  They even cleaned it.  I am very happy with this service. <br />"

SERVICE CENTER

"When our built-in GE microwave quit working, I called our GE warranty service customer service on 5/16, and they arranged the repair with The Service Center in Brookings. The next day BJ from The Service Center called to verify that she received the work order, and said that the replacement part had been ordered and she would call me when it came in to schedule the installation. I called her again on 5/21 and left a message to call back to let me know if the part had arrived, but she did not call back. I called again the next day and BJ said the replacement part should be in by 5/25, and she would call to confirm the installation tenatively scheduled for 5/29 in the morning. BJ did not call back, no one showed up to do the installation on 5/29, so I called again on 5/30 to ask status. BJ then told me in a very disgruntled tone that the part was in but they were not going to install it because GE was billing them for $100. when it was supposed to be free. BJ asked me to call GE customer service to get the charge reversed, so I did call but was told that they cannot help because the Service Center will have to resolve the issue with their dealer. I then called BJ back to let her know, and she was very irritated with me, saying that she had already done that but will try again and call me back. She did not call back, so on 6/1, my husband called her to follow up and was told by BJ that they will not install until they get the $100. credit from their dealer. BJ finally called back on 6/4 to confirm the $100. had been credited so she scheduled the installation for 6/5, but couldn't confirm a time because the installer had several other clients to service that day. On the morning of 6/4, the installer showed up and performed the installation satisfactorily. The installation quality was good, the installer was cordial and professional, but the customer service contact with BJ was very unprofessional and unsatisfactory."

FAQs for fridge, freezer or ice maker repair or service projects in Brookings, OR

Most ice makers are similar in design, and some parts are interchangeable. However, if your ice maker has advanced filters or special features, it's best to use the same make and model to ensure everything works properly. Ask your appliance repair pro to check your appliance specifications to be sure.

With regular use and proper maintenance, an ice maker typically lasts about four to five years. If you keep up with tasks like changing the filters every six months, you might get up to 10 years out of your ice maker. Address any problems with your ice maker right away by calling an appliance professional to ensure you solve any issues before they escalate, helping to keep your ice maker running smoothly for longer.

Your refrigerator's age plays a big role in deciding whether to repair or replace the ice maker. If your fridge is nearing the end of its average 14-year lifespan, it might not be worth investing in expensive repairs since other parts could fail soon. Getting a diagnosis from a refrigerator repair pro can help you decide what's best.
