10 years experience, Tile Installs & Repair

"Alex installed about 400 sq.ft. of ceramic tile in my kitchen area. They did an excellent job installing the new floor. They had some difficulty removing the old floor(2 layers of vinyl sheet), but once they got past some initial problems they did a very nice job completely removing the old floor. Alex is a real artist when it comes to cutting tile. Alex does in one piece what others would do in 2 or 3 pieces. There were no money issues either. The price he gave me was the final price. It took a little longer than expected, but it was worth it."

    Additions and Remodels

"JJ Construction literally has been a godsend for me. After having solicited for multiple bathroom shower renovation bids, and factoring the pros and cons of considering the average $15K contract, Mr. John Yuan returned my call. Rather than bash the other contractors, this review will attempt to shed light on the unsung heroes Iâ ve found in JJ Construction, affectionately known as John and Nick. First of all, during my very first conversation with John, he said to me: â I can only imagine what youâ ve been going through with the seemingly excessive price quotes, how about I come down and take a look at it myselfâ . After meeting John, and he assessed my cracked shower base situation, he quoted me a price and without hesitation, I said â Soldâ . This project has had me stressed for months. I ordered a shower kit only to find out that the kit did not include the shower walls. This could have been a catastrophic mistake, but fortunately I was able to order a shower wall set that was in-stock. John took me to pick-up the shower walls, plus we were able to grab the necessary drywall, adhesives, and nails. â My showerâ began to take shape and then John says to me: â Lunch is on meâ In summary, if youâ re ever given the opportunity to be served by JJ Construction, they are in a class all by themselves. I write this review and my project is not even completed. Thatâ s how impressed I am. My guess is, I saved about $10K, therefore, JJ Construction is well deserving of this review."

Kitchen Remodeling in Broomall

Broomall is a small town of approximately 11,000 people. It is counted in the statistical area of Philadelphia, which is just a short drive away. The climate in this town is generally mild, with lots of sunshine and temperature highs rarely reaching higher than 88 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer. Snow is common in the winter, but Broomall receives much less than the national average. Because of the number of older homes in the area, many houses benefit from an updated kitchen here.

Remodeling a kitchen is a great way to improve a home's appearance, efficiency, and value. Especially in older homes, fixtures and appliances can have a dated appearance. Older refrigerators and ovens can use lots of energy to run, thus driving up your electrical bills. Old kitchen designs can make a kitchen hard to navigate and even more difficult to sell. Remodeling the room can completely transform its look and its feel, though it is usually a large project to undertake.

Broomall Neighborhoods and Area Info

Broomall may be small, but it has a lot of character. Growth in the area is steady, which is why residents see a mixture of well-established houses with new construction throughout the town. Because it is just a short drive from the big city, residents can enjoy the peace and quiet of suburban life without missing out on the action of city life. There are a few notable neighborhoods that attract the most homebuyers.

  • Marple - Located on the west side of Broomall is the Township of Marple. This is one of the most popular neighborhoods as well as one of the most expensive. It has a blend of new and old construction throughout, and its biggest attraction is the Marple Sports Arena, which offers 45,000 square feet of indoor space and hosts numerous local sports leagues.
  • Town Center - Town Center is another highly sought after neighborhood in Broomall. The suburban neighborhood is mostly made up of single-family homes built between 1940 and 1969, but there are some newer homes and apartment complexes as well. It is one of the most expensive neighborhoods to live in in the area.
  • Philadelphia - Broomall sits just 30 minutes outside of Philadelphia, the largest city in the state. Residents of Broomall can travel to the big city for a multitude of dining, entertainment, sports, cultural, and shopping options. The cost of living in the suburb is higher than it is in Broomall, so residents can expect to pay more for a home and its remodeling projects in this area versus the suburb.

Project Costs for a Kitchen Remodel

The total project cost for a kitchen remodel is made up of the costs for fixtures, appliances, labor, tools, and other materials. While these can vary from location to location, the biggest factor that determines the price of the overall project is the cost of the materials. Those who opt for high-end appliances and fixtures will spend more than homeowners who opt for more affordable options. The table below shows the cost breakdown of the average kitchen remodel in Broomall, PA.

However, on average, homeowners spend between $11,371 and $28,853 on the project. This means that the cost in Broomall is on the higher end of average.

Licensing and Qualifications

Any person or business that is hired to perform home improvements in the state of Pennsylvania must be licensed. Homeowners are exempt as long as they are performing the work on the home that they live in. In order to obtain a home improvement contractor license, contractors must register with the Office of the Attorney General. Additionally, retailers and salesmen who promote products for sale for home improvement projects must also be licensed. Applications for licenses include proof of insurance and certifications. Contractors are also required to submit to a background check before receiving a license.

Other Home Projects to Consider

Completing other home projects at the same time as a kitchen remodel can save time and money. One project to consider is a dining room remodel. In many older homes, the kitchen and dining room are two explicitly separate rooms. When many people enjoy an open floor plan, it might be beneficial to consider opening up the walls between the two rooms. This makes the kitchen seem larger and can completely transform the look of the entire house.
