"I'll start by saying that while we had more than our share of problems, Ed worked with us to find solutions, and that we're satisfied with the finished product. I do, however, think the problems could have been avoided with better attention to detail.

For our kitchen remodel, we kept our original custom cabinets while replacing everything else. I got several quotes on counters, and Ed was the most helpful over the phone, and came in with the lowest cost so the decision was easy. We purchased a sink that was exactly what we wanted, and we believed would fit, and had it ready when he came out to do the template to be certain. He spent quite a while explaining their process and advantages, measured and took the sink with him, scheduling the installation a little over a week later. This is where things started to go South.

His crew arrived on time and started the work; we had the demolition completed before their arrival. However, the under-mount sink could not be mounted because it was too deep. Our cabinets had an indentation below the false drawers that hadn't been noticed during the template, but the installer told me it was my contractors responsibility to modify the cabinets. This obviously didn't sit well with me and Ed was contacted by phone. Luckily, my contractor was there at the time, and he made some modifications to the space, but it still wasn't going to fit without extensive work. Unfortunately, the hole for the sink had already been cut, so the options were to get another slab or find a sink that would fit the hole and not be too deep. He said he would search and get back to me in a few hours. Several hours passed, so we called back. There was no update, and my wife made clear that this was unacceptable, in rather colorful terms.

Basically we discovered that there isn't a sink that would fit the hole and only option would be to have a custom sink made for about twice the cost of the sink we had purchased. Ed offered to split the cost with us, and it would take about 2 weeks to have it built. He brought over a temporary countertop to set on the cabinet, which we appreciated.

The sink maker used our sink to template the new one, and Ed agreed to get it back to me in time to return it. When it was returned to us, however, the bag was ripped and dirty and the outer sound-dampening coating had been completely scratched off in places- it was still functional, but it was a new product when I bought it, and it was no longer in condition for me to return it. When I reached out, he agreed to trade me sinks and call it even.

When the day finally came, the sink fit (thank goodness) and while it wasn't quite as smooth as the one we had initially purchased, we were certainly happy with it. There was a gap between the countertop and the wall on one side- the installer blamed our walls, but the cut was clearly off by a couple millimeters. I knew that once the backsplash went in, it wouldn't be visible anyway so I didn't make a big deal about it. They left, but when my wife came home she wasn't happy with the seam (it may have shifted when they cut out the cooktop space), but they came out the following day to re-do it.

So...while it wasn't always smooth, we have nice new countertops that we're happy with. If our cabinets hadn't been custom, it probably would have been smooth sailing, but with all the issues, the best I can do is a and quot;Cand quot;.

"
