"My husband & I are delighted with the team that helped us get our dream sun & garden room and our covered patio. The team that worked with us deserves special mention for their work ethics & competence. They were so wonderful to work with & had high integrity. Miguel on the large, extensive concrete work. Vlad on the wonderful execution on building the Covered Patio & Sunroom & all the electrical work. Mike on multiple projects. Carlos on the porcelain tiles. Scott & Abe for hearing us out on our concept of what we needed & addressing our concerns. We highly recommend California Sunrooms, their products & the individuals above. We couldn't have asked for a better team. Happy customers, Lucy & Praveen Chaddha"

"I am very happy with the work done by Cannon General Contracting. They showed up when they said they would, did excellent work and kept us informed throughout the project. Everything was completed on time and with great care. It’s hard to find contractors you can truly trust and Scott and his team are definitely one of them! I highly recommend them. "

"The owner, Vernon Hayes, came out and gave me an estimate for an awning over a portion of my patio - nothing huge, basically enough to keep the water off the back door area and enough space for a couple of chairs to provide some shade in the summer. My yard and patio are very small and I didn't want it totally covered. I thought his estimate was reasonable, but it was the first one, so I wanted to get something to compare it to. The second estimate was almost twice the price and the materials didn't have the lifetime warranty that Vern's had, nor a 20 yr. workmanship warranty. The materials on the second estimate would have required regular repainting to maintain it, which is not something I wanted to do. <br /> So, I called Vern back and decided I wanted to make a change in the height of the awning and add 2 skylights to it (who knew you could do that??), and add the awning over the bedroom window, which as an extra $350 for the extras. All in all, that total cost was only $1550 for all of that! <br /> Scheduling was difficult because Vern's a busy guy, plus sometimes jobs run a little longer than expected, so they they had to start one day later than planned, but I didn't have anything else planned so it worked out OK. Vern and his crew of talented nice guys showed up the evening before 'the big day' and dropped off the materials. The next morning they arrived right on time and (I still can't believe it) they were <strong>done with both awnings in about an hour and a half!</strong> And both are perfect - exactly what I wanted! I joking told Vern I'd wait to see if they'd hold up before submitting my Angie's List review, then forgot to do it until just now after it had been storming all week - very gusty winds and poring rain. The awnings are attached, no parts flying around the neighborhood - I think it's gonna last :) Three cheers for New Dawn Awning!!"

"We could not be happier with their service.  This is a family- run- business that has been in Yuba City for many years.  We called <br /> <br />them for an estimate and the Father (Mike) came out and looked at our site.  He spent a considerable amount of time and <br /> <br />listened to what we explained that we wanted.  He said they could provide us with that and gave us a ballpark figure on the <br /> <br />cost.  When we re-contacted him saying we wanted to hire them, he set up another date and brought his son (Justin) back to <br /> <br />our home to view our patio.  They took measurements, gave us a firmer price (which was very close to the ballpark figure) and negotiated a start and finish date. <br /> <br />     Even considering the miracle March rains we had, they managed to stay on schedule and finished on time.  The workers were <br /> <br />prompt each day, neat with their work and cleaned up satisfactorily when finished.  <br /> <br />      The permitting process went smoothly as well and the final inspection was without any problems.  The community is lucky to <br /> <br />have this business available. <br /> <br />       Added bonus ----- our friends and neighbors seem to love it too!!!! <br />"

"Right from the start we were impressed with the way Tony the salesman, listened to our ideas and drew a plan to incorporate them all.  Before construction, the designer, ( I think his name was Jason) came out to make sure the plans were functional, and had some additional great ideas for placement of columns, color, etc.  He took a lot of time to make sure we were happy with the design.  Next came the permit process which they handled quickly.  Installers were friendly, nice guys, hard working, and a joy to have doing the project.  We had two problems upon completion which were both resolved satisfactorily by the company, although it took a couple calls and return visits.  The first problem was having the inspector sign off on the completion, as the structure was not correctly "bonded" to the electrical pool equipment.  The first and second electrical bonds were not approved, but the inspector approved the third bonding.  There were also 5 rafters that had been split during the installation of the brackets which support the beam supporting the cover.  Two different installers came out before the repair was completed, but at the end, all was done well.  We would definitely recommend them (We had six other estimates, but Clark Wagaman Designs was the best firm for listening to our ideas, and making them a reality.  They truly do "design" as well as build. <br />"

FAQs for sunroom or patio enclosure building service projects in Browns Valley, CA

A sunroom is a fully enclosed space with walls of windows or glass. It allows you to enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of the indoors, protected from bugs and weather. It functions as an additional room in your home. A covered patio extends your home's roof over an outdoor area, providing shade and shelter while remaining open to the fresh air. It's a great way to enjoy outdoor living while being protected from sun and rain.

Adding screens to your porch is the most budget-friendly way to enclose it. Screening keeps out insects and debris while letting you enjoy the breeze and outdoor ambiance. It's less expensive than installing full walls or glass enclosures and doesn't usually require permits, making it an efficient way to upgrade your porch.

If you're transforming your porch into a fully enclosed living space like a sunroom, you'll likely need a sturdy foundation, such as a reinforced concrete slab, to support the structure. For a simple screened-in porch, you might be able to use the existing floor and support posts without additional foundation work. It's best to consult a professional to determine what's needed for your project.

An enclosed porch can be considered a living space if it's fully enclosed with solid walls and windows, has a proper roof, and includes heating and cooling systems. It should also have direct access from inside your home. When these criteria are met, the space becomes an extension of your home's livable area.
