"I have had a pretty negative experience with Amherst Alarm. Purchased a building that had an Amherst alarm system already installed, including smoke/fire and intrusion/motion. I signed a new contract with them to continue with the system/service. The system has since had multiple problems for which they have sent technicians to try to resolve. None of the problems were ever resolved in fact in one case they were made worse, but they insisted upon billing me hundreds of $ for the visit. The most recent problem is that I discovered that Amherst alarm was not receiving notifications from my system - the alarm goes off but they are not notified. The phone company says the line is ok. I do not know how long it was not communicating because Amherst Alarm never notified me - I set off the alarm to test it, and never received a call, that is how I discovered the problem. They said they would send out a tech to fix the problem. Great. I told them I wanted assurance that if they could not resolve the problem then they would not bill me. I had a number of conversations with one of there tech guys. He said he would ask the manager, Christine, and get back to me. I never heard from him again. So for the past 2 months, I have a system that does not communicate with Amherst Alarm, and yet I have paid for a full year of service. Two big fat thumbs down."
