"We bought new kitchen cabinets through Paul G. White. They recommended that we hire Warren to install the cabinets. Apparently they do a lot of work together. Of course, once Warren started we kept finding other things we wanted him to do. We never found anything he couldn't do. He is smart, very experienced and concerned about doing a good job. He kept the work area neat and was just a good guy to have working in our house while we were there. Warren charges more than a lot of people who do this kind of work, but we thought it was worth the price."

"I have wanted to do this for a long time. <br /> We had a quote for the work, and decided not to do it right away. <br /> Approximately 1 year later the decision was made to go ahead with this. <br /> Jeff remembered us and the project.  He came to the house to check measurements and he told us what the cost would be. <br /> We gave him a deposit that day. <br /> Work was done when scheduled and they painted the mantle at my request for the fireplace. <br /> Although i think that I might want some additional work done, it is because of my preference. <br /> jeff is aware that I might want some additional things added and has been very attentive. <br />"

"Took great care in making sure she understood what was required, detail, colors, etc.  Policed her own work to make sure it was top-notch quality, and the results show.  The house is the best that it ever has been!  Attention to detail was infinite: there are no blemishes of any kind, anywhere.  I would recommend Auburn to anyone, and already have to a neighbor. <br />"

"Vincent is amazing. He gave me two quotes, I selected one, and he scheduled the work date. He came on the work date and did a flawless job. And the invoiced amount was less than the quote. I'm sure that this doesn't happen every day and you would not want to count on it, but I was willing to pay the quoted amount. And yet, I was charged based on actual time and materials which I guess worked out to be less. Vincent's integrity is exemplary and rare in this business! I recommend Vincent without reservation -- he's multi skilled and does a great job! I'd hire him again in a minute!"

"We met with numerous contractors before selecting David.  Most contractors we spoke with did not appreciate the difference between an antique post and beam structure and new construction. It was obvious that he enjoys working on antiques and understands them.  He was excellent in reviewing and understanding the structural elements of the house. He spent at least an hour looking over the sill structure, settling on a  plan for the structural repair  and restoration and walking us through/discussing the reasoning behind the plan.   David was punctual and professional throughout.  He is extremely enthusiastic about his work and more than willing to share his experience.   He came on time and delivered estimates when he said he would.  He set a start date and began and finished on time.  The work took about three weeks to complete, which is very reasonable considering the amount of work needed.  He employed appropriate safety when working on the steep roof.  The quality of the work is excellent and his attention to detail was fantastic.  Repairing a sill plate and beam on a antique post and beam structure is always a bit of a concern.  Dave's original plan and assessment of the scope of the work was excellent and required  only minor adaptation as the  the work progressed.  In addition he made a few additional repairs to the siding and trim not in the original quote pro bono because he didn't think it looked good compared to the repaired  area.  He used more expensive materials than in the original quote in some areas as he felt standard materials would not last for tens of years in those places.  This demonstrated his going beyond attitude to ensure quality. He left the site clean and neat.  He documented the work with photos so we can see what was behind the siding for future reference and sent picture texts most days. His enthusiasm was great and was always willing to give advice on other repairs we were considering as dyi projects. Certainly we will consider Dave again when it comes time to do simple jobs or more complex projects on the to do list."

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Bustins-island, ME

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
