"Recently used Mahon Plumbing for various plumbing needs around my house. As a new homeowner you can be skeptical on what’s behind your walls or in this case pipes. Mahon did an initial sewer line inspection and called them back to swap out toilets and install natural gas in my backyard for a grill and fire table. They were professional, honest, and extremely knowledgeable about all phases of my projects. I would recommend Mahon Plumbing for all of your plumbing needs!"

"James is great!  He is always on time and he is a great communicator.  He always responds promptly to calls or texts.  There were a few things that made the job a little more difficult than simply taking out the old vanity and putting in the new.  James worked through all of the minor problems and made it work.  He is a really nice man and his prices are always reasonable.  I will call him for all of my plumbing needs. <br />"

"We had Stang Plumbing out to a rental property of ours. In the process of remodeling we found that the water shut-offs were not shutting off completely. We had them out to replace all of the valves in the apartment, disconnect the gas stove, and install a new tub during the remodel process. I highly recommend Stang as they do what they say they are going to do, they are punctual every time, and very professional. Outstanding in every way."

"We were suddenly getting water with gunk back into our basement shower one evening. Ken, who had worked with the plumbing in our basement bathroom when we remodeled two years ago, promptly came out the next day to clear out the pipe in the shower and also from the toilet out to the septic.  Later in the evening a leak occured in the seal of the toilet and we had to have him out the next day to re-seal the toilet. He also spent time to show me how backed up my septic was and that I would need to have the tank cleaned out as well.  <br /> Ken is very personable and thorough.  Each time out he has left the job area neat and thoruoghly clean.  We will continue to call on him whenever we have plumbing needs! <br />"

"Had them come out for their angie's list $199 toilet install. I bought a toilet at Home Depot and when the technician opened the tank was broken. He was courteous and didn't charge me for coming out. He said just call use when you get another toilet. Got another toilet and checked to make sure this was in good order and the plumber back out. He was very friendly and did quick work. The toilet was installed properly and he did a great job caulking it at the bottom very neat. Everything was cleaned up. Highly recommend."

"Put this plumber in your contact list with a star! We have used Clear Line in the past & referred several satisfied neighbors. When we needed the water heater & water line for our refrigerator replaced, we called Robert who did a stellar job. He was friendly, professional & did quality work. We were exceptionally pleased to have found such a conscientious plumber who went the extra mile to install an accessible shut off valve. This shut off valve was invaluable when our ice-maker started leaking! Recently, we developed a pinhole leak in the basement & although he was booked, he arranged for his dad’s company to come same day in his place. Seems good plumbers run in the family! Again, Robert had our back, which was much appreciated along with the experience of being charged honest prices. It’s nice not to have to worry about being taken advantage of when emergencies happen. His prices have been consistently outstanding for the work performed & the job is always done right! Very happy."

"Had a leaky faucet causing water damage under my kitchen sink. Brian came out at 8 am the next day and got it fixed (installed the replacement faucet I had purchased) as well as replaced a leaky outdoor spigot. Years ago, Brian also installed my sump pump. He is super knowledgeable, laid back, and friendly. He's up front with costs (of which are very reasonable) and work quality is excellent. I'll definitely be calling him for future plumbing needs."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Butler, MD

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
