"It went smoothly exactly as Paul described the job. His crew installed a sump pump and ensured in drained to the curb. The crew replaced the drain run to the curb and dug around the existing bushes. The crew also connected the the roof downspout to the run to the curb. The crew installed a perforated pipe in a trench which created a floating basement floor on 3 sides of the basement. (the 4th wall was not necessary since was an interior wall.) They concreted over the pipe with a gap to the wall. they repaired and painted the basement walls."

"Larry and his two associates arrived on time and Larry covered the entry from my garage to the basement to protect the entry floor.  Larry had a checklist he covered with me and the team immediately started the crawlspace work, bringing their materials and ladder to the basement.  The existing fiberglass insulation was removed from the crawlspace as well as other debri.  The insulation was placed in large bags before removing from the house.  Insulation was then added to rim joists and around the crawlspace walls.  At that point the gravel was smoothed on the crawlspace floor and the liner was rolled out.  The liner was sealed to the walls. This work took about six hours.  After the Basement Guys team had left I did notice that one area of the liner / crawlspace wall had not been sealed well.  We called the Basement Guys and they returned within a week to finish by sealing this area. <br />"

"Everything was an A+. We have a basement but instead of a walk-out basement, we have a walk-out pit area in our basement. So evidently, the walls were poured to be basement walls instead of a retaining wall. I am not an engineer so I don't know but we did have an engineering company come out and do a study and stuff and that's what they determined and so Acculevel came out and installed 6 support braces that they drilled into through the walls and stuck these braces into the ground at an angle like some of them are 13 ft deep. And these supports that they installed are guaranteed for life and it's supposed to prevent our walls for ever caving in. And we hope that it will work."

"We are very pleased with the people, service, quality, and the finish product.  We were more interested in a quality job than a fast one. The cost was considerably more than we planned, but some of that was upgrades by our choice. Do it right, <br /> so you don't look back and have regrets. We spent a lot of time on layout and function, so it looks god and is user friendly. We would defiantly recommend  Hartville Hardware for a remodel."

"Over the past 10 years Wallace Construction Group has completed three remodeling projects for us: a two-story addition in 2007, a bathroom remodel in 2016 and a major kitchen remodel earlier this year. Marc Wallace personally supervised our two-story addition and the kitchen. The reason we have used Wallace for the three projects is that their work is very high quality, but at a competive prive. Everything is done very professionally, with everything in writing to minimize surprises. His project manager, erected a plastic barrier to protect the rest of the house from dust created by the kitchen demolition. It worked great! We are completely satisfied with Wallace's work, thanks in no small part to Marc Wallace. I would highly recommend that anyone who is considering a remodeling project to at least get an estimate from Wallace Construction Group. We love our two-story addition, bath and kitchen."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Cambridge, OH

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
