"Mike and Trevor, of Freedom Electrical, upgraded my home electrical service from 100 Amp to 200 Amp service. Mike provided a cost proposal based on a site visit. He was professional, competent, and learned what my needs were. When I accepted the proposal and initiated work, Freedom Electrical provided me updates on when they would be to my home and that was based on when the electric company would be available to shut down the house electricity. They arrived in the early morning on the scheduled date and worked until the project was completed, about 8 hours. I visited each of them every couple of hours to see the progress, and ask questions. They both were happy to answer my questions. Everything went without a hitch and the new panel had wires run to circuit breakers that looked so organized it reminded me of the lines on a computer chip circuit board! They were able to run a bran new 240 volt 40 Amp circuit with 6 gauge wire from the new panel through my basement wall to the outside of my house and terminate the circuit at an 'emergency shutoff' box. The incoming service line and the new circuit had putty packed around the cables where they entered the house (to prevent insects / rodents from entering through the holes). Before the left the site, I was informed that an inspector would be coming by. Once the inspector arrived and noticed the 'Freedom Electrical' sticker on my new panel, he said something like 'oh yah, these guys make my job real easy - they do the best work I have ever seen'. I highly recommend Freedom Electrical for anything requiring a professional electrician."

"I called Cusatis Electric late one afternoon while I was on the road traveling for work. My wife had called me and said the electric had gone out at our condo. Dave was on his way home but turned around and arrived well before I got home. He did not want my wife to have to sit alone in the dark . By the time I arrived Dave had started checking all the circuits both visually and with a meter. He was there until well after dark until he was able to fix the problem. He put everything back and then went and checked the breaker panel just to make sure it was safe. He suggested I add three 20 amp breaker, and stopped by a few weeks later and installed them. During this whole process Dave was courteous and informative. You could not ask for a nicer guy. Dave Cusatis knew exactly what to do. I will not use anyone else to do my electrical work. His service fee was more than fair for the amount of time and work he did."

"I recently bought a house that had knob and tube wiring throughout. Rittner's Electric did the re-wiring. I highly recommend Dave Rittner and Rittner's Electric for your electric contractor and I would/will be using for my future electric work. A total house rewiring is not a one day job...it's a multiple week job. From the initial estimate thru all the work and up to the final inspection Dave was the total professional. Dave's pricing and estimates were fair and spot on, as was the amount of time needed to finish the project. I work out of my house and Dave's communication as to what he was planning on working for each particular day made it easy to plan out what/where I could work. Bottom line, if you need an electrician might as well get a top notch, professional and experienced one so, just call Dave Rittner."

"Very high priced. They installed 2 electric outlets and didn't run the wire inside the wall. I expected the wire to be run inside the wall...I thought it was unprofessional"

"A technician from Thomas Edison Electric was available to come to our home on the same day of my request for project quotes. He was able to problem solve the issue and prepared a quote for upgrading the electric vehicle charger. We have not yet decided to do the upgrade but much appreciated the consultation and quote."

"Excellent. Electrical work in a 120 year old house in not easy at best, its a real challenge that includes working in the old attic and basement. The fans are beautiful and both working as promised. They cleaned up after the job and worked steady the whole time they were here. Could not be more pleased and will use them again whenever I need electrical work done. Thanks!"

"Danny is by far the best person I have ever hired for any job in my home, and certainly the best electrician. He installed a sub panel in my basement, along with 2 wall heaters, and 7 outlets. He did all the work quickly and precisely. He was very cooperative in working with me to determine the best locations for the various components of the project. He explained how he would accomplish the job; the allocation of breakers was important to me, and other electricians seemed uncertain about how to do the job without putting in a new panel. When the fan in one of the new heaters didn't run, he opened it up and found a loose wire (others may have just said it was my problem and to send it back). He is personable and his pricing is quite reasonable, especially with such high quality of work. I will hire him for other projects I have planned. If only I could find an auto mechanic and a plumber this good."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Camp Hill, PA

A whole-house surge protector blocks voltage spikes from lightning, grid issues, or even large appliances before they can fry your wiring or electronics. By diverting excess current at the main panel, it shields everything from your HVAC to your phone chargers and can extend the life of pricey appliances. Homeowners in storm-prone regions or with older panels see the biggest payoff, but any home that relies on sensitive electronics benefits.

Most whole-house surge protectors work for two to three years. Low-level spikes—too small to notice—hit your panel every day and slowly wear down the internal components. Once the unit’s capacity is depleted, it can’t prevent a larger surge, so plan to replace it on schedule (or sooner if a major lightning strike occurs) to keep your electronics and HVAC equipment safe.

A surge protector begins guarding your circuits the moment an electrician snaps it into place. Whether the spike originates from a nearby lightning strike or your fridge kicking on, the protector shunts the extra current to ground before it can reach outlets or hard-wired systems, such as your AC. That instant response is why a small upfront cost can save thousands in appliance repairs.

The unit mounts on or next to your main electrical panel. Type 1 models sit on the supply side, catching outside spikes before they hit the breaker. Type 2 devices snap inside the panel and tame surges that start within the house. Either way, placement at the panel lets the protector guard every circuit at once.

Plan to swap the device every three to five years—or sooner if you upgrade your panel, add high-demand appliances, or notice flickering lights and tripped breakers. Relying on a maze of power strips is another red flag that your current setup isn’t keeping up. Replacing the surge protector at these milestones keeps your electrical system on safe footing.
