"We are very happy with the stairs Matt built us to replace the old stairs going into our basement. I'm finishing a room in the basement and building stairs is beyond my novice carpentry skills. He was very friendly and professional and communicated with me to make sure that the job was done the way I wanted. The steps turned out great and I feel the price was fair. He even gave me helpful suggestions for the framing I'm working on. I will definitely call Matt the next time I need skilled carpentry work in our house. <br />"

"I 100% recommend using these guys. The most professional flooring company I’ve encountered. A local family owned business that brings integrity to life. Steve was very kind and knowledgeable, which made us feel confident and comfortable. Every step was made simple. We threw a curveball at them and they still finished it all in one day. Excellent crew, highly organized, highly skilled, hard working. We are very grateful to the whole team. They took care of business. Everything was perfectly communicated and executed, at a generously fair cost. Rich was exceptional. Very kind. Very efficient. We couldn’t have asked for better service or people. Highly..highly satisfied. Nicely done guys."

"Very professional from start to finish. Impressed with the care for my house the workers displayed by putting down matting for them to walk on and wearing booties. Would hire again in a heartbeat."

"They were very responsive to our needs and were able to schedule the work quickly.  Their price was comparable to the other estimates we had gotten.  They completed the job in two days and everything looked great afterwards. <br />"

"I spoke with Terry who listened to our job and needs. Unfortunately, we was unable to assist as he does not handle vermiculite, but he spent a good 10 minutes educating and offering tips for hiring a responsible company for the job. He also suggested two local companies who could help me navigate the process. Would definitely call on Terry again for other asbestos issues. <br />"

"I had received several quotes from a few big name roofing companies in the Toledo area late summer of this year. The price was shockingly higher than I thought it would be so I decided I would save for a few more months. When the time can that I could not put off my roof any longer, I noticed a roof in my neighborhood also getting replaced. I left for work in the morning and by the time I got back home the roof was done! I could not believe they were finished and how good it looked! The company that did the roof was Johnson Construction. I had not heard of them before so I checked them out on the BBB and saw good things so I thought to myself "what the heck one more estimate wont hurt anything" BOY AM I GLAD I DID!! Not only did I receieve an estimate significant less ( for the exact same work previously quoted) but also the warranty they included beat out the rest. Throughout the entire project I would have to say overall I was very impressed with the professionism and service provided and have no problem recommending Johnson Construction in the future to those looking for a new roof. They have proven themselves to be a great word of mouth company! <br />"

FAQs for toxic lead testing projects in Canton, OH

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a strong chance it contains lead-based paint. Many pre-1980 houses also contain lead in their plumbing and decorative materials, so age alone is a significant red flag. Older homes near industrial areas face an even higher risk. Because you can’t confirm lead by sight, scheduling a test is the safest way to protect your family.

In older houses, lead can lurk in painted trim, window sashes, soil around the foundation, plumbing pipes, and even vintage hardware. The metal is toxic, and children and pregnant women are most at risk. Exposure can trigger developmental delays, learning problems, and organ damage. Because the EPA links even low levels to serious health effects, test every suspected surface and address any hazards right away.

A positive test means lead is present somewhere you can touch, breathe, or disturb. The next step is a full risk assessment to map exactly where the hazard lies and outline the safest fix: encapsulation, enclosure, or full removal. Repairs start at $1,000 but can exceed $10,000 for complete elimination, so act quickly and hire certified pros to keep your family safe.

EPA lead certification proves that inspectors, risk assessors, and abatement contractors follow federal safety rules under the Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Program. The credential costs an average of $300, and certified professionals can legally test, contain, or remove lead hazards. Hiring a certified pro protects you from fines and ensures the work meets strict health standards.

Lead-based paint looks no different from any other paint, so you can’t identify it by color or sheen. Even flawless walls may hide it. If paint starts chipping, flaking, or peeling, schedule a professional test right away. Only laboratory-grade testing confirms lead and guides the safest fix for your home.
