"We have a beautiful outcome but we did 75% of the sanding of the deck and 25% of the patio furniture to meet our quality standards. We were told they were meeting industry standards which we did not believe. There were many late arrivals and even two no shows on the part of his subcontractor. The owner was responsive to our complaints but when he saw we could make the deck wood look new by dedicating time to sanding he did concede we were right. Based on the age alone at first we did not feel he agreed it could be achieved. After his subcontractor left we would go over his sanding even of the patio furniture. We were told all boards that needed replacement were part of the estimate but we had to find them, usually after our finger would pop through in order for him to finally change out all of the rotting boards. He took before and after pics, telling us after the fact for advertising, they are not accurate of his subcontractors work. And despite putting in a combined 32 hours of hard labor sanding, as the owners, we were offered no discount for how this all played out. His subcontractor did two things well, power wash and staining. But he used no eye for detail like we had been promised ahead of time. We will consider hiring the owner for future jobs if he does the work himself but never again with a subcontractor."

"Outdoor Solutions completed a new 21’ x 16’ deck project with maintenance free decking and aluminum railing (with drink rail) at our home. The project included a new stairway from the deck to our backyard and an under-decking system for water drainage to keep our underneath patio space dry. Jim was very helpful in providing input to design decisions and recommending products to be used in the project as we completed its planning, and that resulted in the deck being incorporated well into our landscaping and lot space and to have some attractive finishing features like post wraps that matched our house trim color. During construction, Chris and his crew were very friendly and professional in their work and took care to clean-up the work site thoroughly as the construction progressed. Jim and his team made sure that we were absolutely satisfied with all of the results for the deck project. We love our new deck! "Barack, the owner of New Again Deck Renewal, was easy to work with, generous with his time and advice, and extremely fair in his pricing. He is a popular choice on Angie's list so he stays busy during the non-winter seasons and can be hard to schedule if you wait too long. Working through e-mails, I sent Barack photos of the current condition of the deck and he immediately offered me a couple of options - clean and stain or replace the deck planks. I asked him to come and look at the deck in person, so he did. Once he saw the actual deck he advised me to rip off the deck planks and replace them with new cedar. He assured me that the joists beneath the deck were sound. He suggested that I check out his site on the internet to see the recent work he'd done and to get a feel for different styles. "What you like is up to you," he said. "I can do whatever you want but you have to decide the look that you're comfortable with." So, I did that, and he then directed me to check out the Decks Direct site for railing options and prices. Barack sent me an estimate for his part of the project and carefully reviewed my choices of railing hardware. (I ended up spending about $2,000 for the metal railings). I thought Barack's estimate was very fair and, in addition, he gave me a substantial Angie's list discount. I provided a downpayment and we settled on an install date (trying to work between rainy days). I ordered the railing and had it shipped to my house. Everything went great. Barack and a partner were punctual and came and removed the old deck planks in one day and staged most of the new wood. He came back another day with a crew of four to cut and install the new wood and to assemble and install the railing hardware. The deck looks absolutely wonderful. Everything was cleaned up perfectly. We loved the experience. I just wish I hadn't waited so long to have the deck renewed! I highly recommend this company and, yes, I would use them again."

"We changed our cedar deck to a composite Azek product as we tired of the maintenance and expense involved in the upkeep of a 19 year old cedar deck. We had two estimates. Both were similar in price. The difference is Steffan's quote was based on Azek composite decking and the other quote on the less expensive Timbertech product also manufactured by Azek. In addition, Steffan's quote included adding 3 joists to provide additional support. He was very detailed and hands-on during the entire process. We are very pleased with the result!"

"John was professional, responsive and above all else very skilled at his trade.  We got off to a slow start at first, but John was upfront about his backlog of exterior work and needed to take advantage of good weather days in order to accomodate previous commitments.  He had hoped to have a crew come in and be done with our rather large job in just a couple days, but instead of rescheduling and delaying further, he came in and did the entire job himself!!  He was quick, efficient and did what it took to get it done!  He completed the project in just over 4 days!!  He kept the work space clean and tidy.  Which I thought was impressive considering we were painting the entire main level of our house.  He was also very considerate of the fact that we have two small children.  Even taking the time to entertain my 2 year olds barrage of questions! <br /> As for cost, given the amount of work done, the high quality materials he used and efficiency with which the job was completed, I'd say it was a bargain!! <br /> We will definitely use John and Absolute Painting for ALL of our future painting projects! <br />"
