"We hired Shawn and his crew to do a driveway extension and patio. Before I get into the details their work is good, looks great. Let's talk about all the issues. The crew was very disrespectful to our neighbors and us. They were eating lunch and were throwing chicken bones on our yard. Not good for people with dogs, we asked them to please not do that, and the foreman made them pick them up. They then decided to hide the trash in with the excess dirt and dump it on the border of my neighbor's yard and ours. One of Shawn's foremen and myself walked and picked up the trash through the dirt and other trash left in our yard, plus a few tools they had left. The crew also went to the neighbors on the other side of us and used their hose. They broke some vinyl siding, and cemented our shed skirting shut. Shawn has a good heart; he did send his foreman out to fix everything and is supposed to make good with the damages. He said he is dropping off a check this morning, I guess we'll wait & see"

Ron's range of experience in the waterproofing industry spans almost three decades. A Dayton resident since 1991, the Cleveland native began his foray into waterproofing and concrete in 1996. As a laborer, Ron quickly learned the ins and outs of the waterproofing business, including new construction waterproofing systems and concrete structural repair options available to stabilize home foundations. Ron expanded his knowledge to commercial high-rise buildings, eventually overseeing large crews building hotels in Columbus and other major cities throughout the tri-state area. Ron "hits on all cylinders." Not only does he know everything about the waterproofing and concrete processes, but he also understands each facet of running a business. From laborer to production manager to VP of operations, Ron has done it all. He is also personable and reliable, traits highly valued by his customers. Ron's consummate professionalism has earned the trust of many local REALTORS, engineers, homeowners, and property management companies. Ron and Jennifer, his wife of 26 years, have strong roots in the community. Three of their four grown sons live in Miamisburg. "I’m only giving a one star review because they were able to get us on the schedule quickly. Everett seemed very friendly and honest when he came out to give us a quote to widen our driveway and extend our extension patio so we decided to hire Hastings and Sons. Now with HUGE regret. This is a slimy business. Partial payment was due at the beginning of the job and the remaining was due at the completion of the job. We went ahead and paid the remaining payment without the job being FULLY completed (ignorant on my part) the only thing left to do was saw cut and clean up, we were told someone would back the following morning, here we are 4 days later and no one has showed up to complete the job. Everette and someone named Tim who wasn’t even on the job and told me two jobs were mixed up told me it would be taken care of (yesterday). If concrete is left too long without the control joints being cut it will crack, we are past 96 hours with no saw cuts! Not to mention I told the project manager I wanted our patio to be rounded and it was not, he did a walk through the morning of pouring and talked about the square footage but nothing was staked out so I didn’t even think to bring it up again since I already told him and showed him a picture of what I wanted, he said I should have mentioned that during the walk through. This part I was okay with getting over until it turned into a bigger problem. They left my front yard a mess, there is concrete smeared on our existing patio, concrete on the siding of our house, basement windows, the quality of their work is bad. Sloppy, the extension of the driveway isn’t even. If I could do it all over again I would have hire the contractor who’s price was significantly higher. I would not recommend Hastings and Sons to anyone and will never use them again for future projects. Do yourself a favor and don’t go for the cheapest quote, I know better and still did it. I should have been more thorough when researching the company, their reviews are loads of complaints and they are not on the BBB that’s usually a red flag. Lesson learned, you get what you pay for! Good thing is I was able to stop payment on the second check. They’ll get paid when they actually FINISH the job."
