"We are very happy with the work that Vantage Point Roofing did for us. Jacob was very knowledgeable and helpful with our small project to reseal the drip edge on our roof. He also looked around and took care of other potential problem areas for us. I highly recommend Vantage Point and will call him anytime we have roof problems in the future."

"Expert Plumbing arrived on time. The tech was courteous and kept me informed about the job at hand as he worked. Chandler S. noticed the other (still functioning) shut-off valve was just as corroded and replaced as well at no cost! He did a great job installing the faucet, and went the extra mile working around an pre-existing installation issue. Chandler S. offered a heads up on a toilet issue we weren't aware of and answered our many questions then, and throughout the job. We were able to use a coupon with them, which was accepted with no problem at all. I would definitely recommend this company, and especially the plumbing tech, Chandler S.. I plan on using them again."

"He showed up on the date arranged and did a complete roof analysis (he told me this by phone, since he did the "maintenance package" while I was at work). After examining, sealing and calking everything that needed it, he called me and let me know the status of my roof and anything that may need to be done for it.  Fortunately, everything looked good and nothing additional was needed.  This impressed me, since he obviously did not try to "upsell" me, asking me to purchase a service or object that wasn't really needed.  This alone earned my respect and trust!  I have had small leaks around the skylights, and so will test the quality of the calking when we have our next serious rain storm!

"I hired Optimum for a leak in my range hood which exhausts via my roof. Nate came by to take a look, explained my options and promptly fixed the leak. Their quality of work is excellent but I especially appreciate their communication and problem solving. I'll definitely be hiring them again!"

"

Our point of contact was Gary Courtright who did an excellent job in communicating, estimating, and coordinating the repairs and roofing shingle replacement for our rather large and expansive home in Fruit Heights, Utah, where in some years, the canyon winds through our town can exceed 100 MPH.  After 25 satisfactory years on our old roof, we contracted Kimball to complete some extensive roofing plywood repairs, re-flashing, re-membraning, and re-edging of the entire 6,000 SF roof.  Per Gary's expert advice, plus Louie and Rohojolo outstanding installation, we ended up with a very attractive and fully sealed roof that will probably last twice as long as our previous roof.  We now have a Tamko 50 year architectural shingled and ridged roof that can now withstand winds up to 150 MPH.  SUPER. JOB WELL DONE !

"I didn't sign up to have the re-roof done. They were pretty good at that. It should be pretty much in good shape for the next couple of years. There was no extra charge at all. They were good. He took the time to explain everything he was seeing up there. We decided what was important to do at the present time. When they finally did contact me, it was two and a half weeks before they showed up. They didn't have anybody working in this area at that time. He was here before I expected him to be here that day. He was very good with professionalism."

"This was a wonderful company The installer was pleasant and answered all my questions. The cable was of supine quality and the warrantees were great. I would definitely recommend Utah Heat Cable, this is a new company. The owner used to work for others but decided to start his own company. I wish them the best of luck but I am sure they will go far."

"In June of this year we needed to have our 9 year old house painted, along with replacing some weather damaged trim around our windows. We hired a painting contractor who claimed to know what he was doing. Instead of replacing the trim he tried to caulk, fill, and cover up the old rotten boards. He watered down the paint and then proceeded to use one very thick coat instead of the two coats he promised. He ended up destroying our soffit and siding. He also damaged the weep holes on most of our lower level windows. We were left with a huge mess, and lost half the money we paid up front. I reached out to a full list of contractors to repair our home. Most of them were shocked at the damage that was done, but seemed to be to busy or not interested in helping us out. In comes Gray Huskie Custom Exteriors. I called and left a message with Miguel, and he called me back within less than a half hour to schedule a time to come out to our house that same evening for a bid. Miguel and his son were professional, knowledgeable, and presented us with a very fair estimate. Within three weeks they were on the job and working hard to fix our home. We were so impressed with Miguel and his crew. It was so nice to have a contractor show up on time, and always let us know ahead if there was a change in the schedule. We are so happy with the quality of the completed work on our home. It looks brand new again. I would not hesitate to hire Gray Huskie Custom Exteriors in the future. Big Thanks!"

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in Centerville, UT

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
