"<p>They were recommended by a contractor for our small galley kitchen. Rick came out and gave some GREAT advice on what to do and what not to do. Gave us ideas on how not to waste our money. We had literally gone around the beltway to find someone who would take the time to listen to our needs and give advice without being pressured into buying something we didn't need. We ended up with HK as they had in my opinion  the best looking natural cherry cabinets. The wood just seemed richer and more real than the other showrooms we visited. I originally thought I would want painted cabinets but once I saw the display in the showroom  I changed my mind. Rick was patient as we chopped and changed but in the end it came right. Before we signed the contract he went over each cabinet in detail. Their lead time is 8 weeks so plan accordingly but well worth the wait. Check only for payment too.Delivery was made as scheduled. They look amazing and we can't wait to see them installed. I will post some pictures when the kitchen is complete. </p> <p>Hagerstown is out of the way for folks in DC but you should visit it before making a decision that you have to live with for a while!</p> <br />"

"They are very friendly and professional. They removed my old cabinets and cleaned up the kitchen. They gave me a lot of professional advice on the maintenance of my new cabinets. Their service was amazing. They are very patient and handled any concerns I had very well. The cabinets are top quality. The colors match perfectly."

"Stud walls: i already had some walls already installed by myself but they ended up relocating some walls so drywall would go up easier and improved the layout for better lighting. Some walls were used. They also built boxes around any ductwork that could not relocated. Electric: the panels were in the garage so they had to cut a part of the wall out to run the electric to the basement. The whole basement was previously on 1 circuit which popped all the time. They installed 5 new breakers for the basement so i would have plenty to power. They even ran a specific breaker for the wall where theater equipment would be installed. They ran me a 220 for a later to be installed hot tub (dont ask...wife said it is a must). 12 lights with some on dimmer switch. Many many outlets were installed (again per wife demands). Electric and hook up for baseboard heaters (3). Drywall: complete drywall with mud and sanding. It is all paint ready now. They even put in access panels for anything that looked like i would need to get to later. Sewer clean out, water controls, etc... Replaced the drywall they had to cut away in the garage to run electric. Doors: installed 7 doors including framing. Did not install door knobs. But wife is particular about hardware. Extras: installed water for wet bar. Also included installation of a pump that is now connected to the main sewer line. Comments: they cleaned up everyday. Showed up ontime and left at a consistent time.. Were even respectfull when the misses repeatedly asked for changes. (Note to other households doing basement remodelling... Keep wifeys out of the basement until done... If not.. They WILL change things no matter how much they pinterist the already approved design). I have pets so they were pet friendly except they would not take my cat home with them even though i offered to increase the cost of the basement remodel. :-( <br />"

"We contacted our insurance agent.  They sent an adjuster out who told us the amount they would pay. We contacted 3 people to give us estimates. Haldeman's Construction gave us the best estimate working with the amount the insurance paid.  They gave us samples of materials and colors of roofing and told us the quality of each.  We set a date approximately 2 months from the estimate date to come do the work.  They came right on time to do the work.  They tore off the old materials and inspected the roof for other damage.  Put on the new roof materials, clean up all old materials including the roofing nails that dropped around the house.  We paid them and they left. <br />"

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Chambersburg, PA

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
