"I had many people come quote me for my stairs with outlandish prices telling me that there was nothing I could do to repair the old stairs in my home. Mike came out and not only did he educate me he was able to repair my stairs quickly and for a reasonable price. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for repair or remodel."

"We couldn't be more pleased, they did an absolutely beautiful job. Dana met with us on Saturday and the crown molding was installed the following Thursday. Our home in Sun City West was pre-owned and had crown molding in the living/dining room that had been installed by the previous owners and a different company. We wanted iCrown to install crown molding in our kitchen/family room. I called them last week and the crown molding is already installed. Dana, the owner, is extremely personable, professional and efficient. They even repaired a bad joint in the living room. I can recommend them without hesitation and will definitely call them the next time we need work done.

"Bought the list for a painter for a day and then sent a message saying I would need an additional day.  He said he would send two painters that same day. That was fine with me.  I needed to have ceiling, trim, and walls painted in master bathroom and toilet closet.  He did a great job.  Told him do as much as he can in the time he has.  He got 95% of it done.  Just didn't do the trim around two of the doors.  I didn't think he would paint the doors, but he did.  That was great since we hate painting the doors it takes a long time.  He did a great job and worked hard.  Jorge was working in the kitchen and family room. We just remolded so had new floors, new counter tops and redone cabinets.  He did a great job to not get paint on anything.  He was able to get it all done in the time allowed and did a great job.  When he was done he was asking anything else.  So I had a bunch of touch ups around the house he took care of for me.  I got a quote for another job doing the entry way, hallway, and stairs with very high ceilings.  So they will be back.  Thanks for a great job.  I love the color.

"My garage door broke and needed to be repaired or replaced. I was told by A1 Advantage that the door was old and they could not get replacement parts for it. They came the next day to install the door. I was told by the installer that the door would be painted in the next week. (I paid extra for this service). It is now over a month later and the door is not painted.  I have called them several times in the last month and have gotten a different excuse each time. The door is very nice but they have not followed up on their customer service, and I could not recommend them at this point.

FAQs for wood stairs and railings installation and replacement projects in Chandler, AZ

Pressure-treated lumber is the most inexpensive deck railing material. It's a cost-effective option that offers a good balance of durability and affordability for budget-conscious homeowners. Pressure-treated wood meets essential safety standards while keeping upfront costs low. In contrast, vinyl, polyurethane, and composite materials tend to be more expensive but offer additional aesthetic and maintenance benefits.

To calculate how much deck railing you need, measure the length of all the edges of your deck where railings are required (excluding any openings or areas bordered by the house). Since precise measurements are crucial, it's a good idea to hire a professional. Contractors have the expertise to accurately measure and install your deck railings.

In most cases, safety standards require railings on steps with more than four risers, steps wider than 44 inches, and decks over 30 inches high, measured from the next level down.

Railings should also be between 34 and 38 inches tall. Regulations can vary based on your location, so it's important to check your local building codes or consult a local contractor. There are also rules about the size of the gaps between pickets and between the bottom of the railing and the deck.

Before installing a railing on your front porch, you'll need to check local permitting requirements. Local building authorities may have specific codes that require a permit—or, in some cases, no permit at all. Reviewing your city's guidelines and consulting a qualified professional will help ensure your project meets all legal and safety standards, preventing any unexpected issues during inspections.

Deciding whether to repair or replace your deck railings depends on the extent of the damage and whether you can match new materials to the old ones. If you have minor issues, repair might be an option. However, when it's challenging to match existing materials, replacing the railings can give your deck a fresh start and reset its lifespan. A decking expert can assess your railings and recommend the best course of action to improve safety and maintain a cohesive look.
