"It started off with requesting a quote through Best Air Quality and Restoration. The response time was great. The technician who showed up informed us in advance of his arrival, was very polite, followed Covid-19 safety protocols, was very thorough and did a great job. I also got the dryer vent cleaning which was the complete deal (going to the attic, removing the vent pipe and cleaning the debris). Some other companies claim they do dryer vent cleaning but only vacuum the dryer duct and do not perform the complete dryer vent cleaning which is more involved. After fully examining the attic, Kurt was able to explain that the principal problem was high humidity levels in the attic. He laid out several solutions to the problem, all of which can be accomplished easily and inexpensively. "Bill Martins Flood Crew is excellent. In December, just before Christmas, my finished rec room flooded when my sump pump failed--soaked carpet, cardboard boxes, books, furniture with sewer water. I thought I would not find anybody this time of year to help me. But I called Bill Martins from Flood Crew, and he came out right away. He looked at the basement and gave me an analysis of my damage on the spot. He was wonderful. He took care of getting detailed estimates to my insurance company and then made arrangements for me with all the needed specialists. First, I wouldn't have known where to start, and second I wouldn't have had a clue whom to call. I needed crews to remove the carpet, cut out drywall all around to dry it out, check for mold, test for asbestos, and then remove everything. And, of course, fixing the sump pump, installing flooring, putting everything back, and lots of details in between. All of this obviously can't be completed in a week or even a month. My work was not the only project that busy contractors had. My situation was far more complicated than I thought it would be. Ultimately, it took four months, which I thought was very reasonable. And the result is so beautiful--no corners cut, no putting up with mediocre results, all this for the same price and time or less than others quote. Be patient. Be flexible. "It went extremely well! They were punctual, hardworking and professional. It was necessary to dig up my neighbor's landscaping, so they were very careful to disturb only what was necessary and to restore everything to its original condition. They even replaced her broken underground downspout extension (which was draining into my basement!) without comment or additional charge. When my neighbor accused them of causing a problem, MJ was quick to respond and the team on-site made a point of apologizing to her in person. I don't think MJ caused the problem, so I was very impressed that they "went high" to investigate the matter and, as I said, apologize for the inconvenience she felt she suffered. The work they did inside to remove mold and seal the wall was thorough and neat. The gentleman doing the work cleaned up everything and took all of his equipment and trash with him. his is especially important since he was working with strong chemicals. My contact in the office was prompt to address anything I threw her way. It was easy to make payments online. Best of all - no sign of water in the basement since they were here!!"

"I've got some really old berber carpet and it's seen a lot fo wear, pets, some leaks, etc. Overall it went well. Hue came out and inspected the stain I had and explained that it needed more than just steaming because it had browned already. He treated the spot and cleaned it and everything looks great now. I had him out a second time to clean the carpets completely and he did a thorough job. I had a few spots that didn't dry well and he came back and re-cleaned those and left fans on it extra time to make sure it dried."

"FD folks seemed  good on the front end of this job, doing the demolition, removing damaged materials and placing the drying machinery.  After several days, they monitored the humidity and removed the equipment. However my insurance agent felt that they placed more fans and dehumidifiers than were necessary.  Additionally that those fans and dehumidifiers selected were more powerful than was needed.  
When they removed some wet carpeting and padding, they used a much larger vehicle than was needed for that volume of material.  In other words at every turn they seemed to take options to push up the cost of the job.
As a layperson, I can't know for sure what is the accurate and necessary number and type of machinery, but this is the second time that such issues have come up on a Flood Doctor job.  I then go through a fairly drawn out period of dispute between the insurance agent and FD and I have to try and mediate between them.  
Another issue that came up is that FD technicians moved some ceiling lights in the remediation process, but then misplaced or lost the screws that held those lights in place.  This ended up being a big problem as the screws weren't in stock, had to be special ordered taking 6 weeks.  I had to get an electrician to re-install them, when a handyman had tried and failed.  FD refused to take responsibility both for having lost the screws originally and also for any reimbursement of the associated costs to replace them and reinstall the lights.
At one point in our back and forth on this, they made indirect threats related to debt collectors and associated impact on my credit record.  Despite these remarks, at this point I have made my final payment, but minus a portion of the cost for the ceiling light issue.  I am waiting for them to cash it.
