"I had a great experience with this company. This is my 4th time using them and I always receive exceptional customer service. When I call, they come same day or next day without fail. They have fixed my clogged toilet, installed a water pressure valve and replaced the garbage disposal. Everything continues to work great! He even showed me how to troubleshoot the garbage disposal if it malfunctions again. I would definitely recommend this company and will continue to use them."

"I had an island stove exhaust fan installed. Stanley & his crew did a great job! A lot of prep involved due to the fact that there were 5 ceiling joists they had to drill through to run the 6" exhaust tube. Moved existing recessed lighting, patched drywall, painted, cleaned everything & gave me a very fair price."

"I am updating my review of 07/11/2023. Since that writing, Appliance Repair Leaders, LLC reached out to make the situation we were dealing with right. I appreciate their follow-through. While the promptness of the planned visits was not good, the technician did continue to try to troubleshoot the problem in the end, and the company refunded a portion of our money. I would recommend them."

"I bought the deal to replace a shower head. The crew came on time. Very friendly. They replaced the shower head very quickly. I also asked them to take a look at a leaking toilet, thinking I may need to replace the feed valve. But after an inspection they told me I just need to replace the flapper, which I later did. This saved me some money. I have used Drain Surgeon a couple of times in the past. The crew is always very professional and friendly. Will use them again."

"Maurice provided excellent professional advice when measuring for my new dishwasher and recommending a replacement. The installation was seamless, and Maurice followed up with a courtesy call to make sure that the dishwasher was working properly. My one recommendation would be to establish an agreed-upon time frame for installation. Unforeseen circumstances delayed Maurice's availability to install the dishwasher, and I was able to work around the delay; not everyone has that flexibility."

"Things went very well. Just like the Angie"s List reviews I had seen before selecting this provider, he was very prompt, professional and courteous. He worked me in within 24 hours so we could leave town on vacation the next day knowing our problems were fixed and our house-sitter would have a functioning sink and dishwasher while we were gone. The sink clog wasn't even part of my original work order request but he took time to take a look and repair on the spot. He then kindly rolled that repair into my $75 appliance repair price at no extra charge. Also of note and very important to me was the fact that he did not try to sell me something I did not need. I felt for sure I was going to need a new heating element after seeing how badly my knife handle had melted onto ours. Instead A Plus Appliances was able to clean my current heating element and prevent replacement saving us a lot of time and money.

FAQs for appliance (smaller size) installation and replacement projects in Cheltenham, MD

Garbage disposals last around 10 years when properly maintained. If your unit is getting close to that age or repair costs are increasing, it might be time to consider a replacement. Regular maintenance and careful use can help maximize your garbage disposal's performance and help it reach its maximum lifespan.

There are several signs to watch for that indicate your garbage disposal needs to be replaced. Replacement may be necessary if it doesn't work even though it's properly connected, the blades are worn and causing delays in operation, a persistent foul odor that won't go away, or leaks coming from the bottom due to a compromised seal. If you're experiencing any of these issues, it might be time to consider getting a new garbage disposal to keep your kitchen running smoothly.

A plumber or handyperson can install your garbage disposal if the electrical connections are already in place. If you need additional electrical work, you'll also need to hire a qualified electrician to handle the rest of the job. Hiring local professionals ensures the installation is safe and up to code.

It’s important to avoid putting certain items down the drain to keep your garbage disposal running smoothly and avoid clogs. Expandable foods like pasta, rice, oatmeal, and bread can swell and cause blockages. Coffee grounds, grease, fats, and oils can accumulate and create clogs. Hard items such as meat bones, nuts, and fruit pits can damage the disposal blades. Eggshells, potato peels, and fibrous vegetables such as celery, pumpkin, corn husks, artichokes, onion skins, and asparagus can wrap around the blades or obstruct the pipes.

Not every sink is suitable for the installation of a garbage disposal. The compatibility of the sink with the disposal depends on the material and structural integrity. While many standard sinks support these units, fireclay sinks are prone to cracking under the added stress and should not be used. Confirm that your sink can securely accommodate the disposal before installation.

Choosing the correct size garbage disposal depends on your household size and how much waste you produce. A 1/3–1/2 horsepower unit should be sufficient for households with one to two people. If your household consists of three to six people, a 1/2–3/4 horsepower unit is recommended. FA3/4–1 horsepower model will be necessary. For larger households of five to eight people
