"I've used Dave's since 2002 and have always been very satisfied with the service provided. I have my regular maintenance contract with these folks for my three-zone cooling and heating systems. I've also had one of my cooling/heating units replaced by Dave. In every case the work has been properly done, the appointment is always kept, and the prices reasonable. I would recommend Dave's cooling and heating service to anyone needing plumbing or heating and cooling services.
"

"We had previously used Phil to install an upstairs central AC system when we first bought our circa-1928 house. After about a year, we realized we needed a new boiler installed, and got the best quote out of about 3, from his company. Further, his quote was the most detailed and convincing that would be kept within budget. He outlined the particular unit that would be required and the various components of the install, as well as the fairly specific date range he could come out. This was in summer of 2014, and the install was set for mid-autumn.
Due to his scheduling, the install was delayed a short period, maybe a week. The installation also took over a week, due to various other conflicts in his schedule during this time, so the install didn't happen all at once. That was not an issue since heat wasnt needed during that time. If there is one thing I would mention, is that due to his location (Woodstock) and relatively few members of his company, it is not always possible to get instant service the way you would with a large brand-name HVAC company. However, Phil makes up for it with his genuine interest and knowledge of each particular project, as well as reasonable cost.
In this case, Phil and his coworker Tommy spent a number of days completely rebuilding my boiler, since previously there were 3 zones serviced by 2 different boilers. So they had to disassemble each old boiler, then install the new one along with the necessary pipes and pumps. This process appeared to be relatively complex and they performed the work with skill. The new system is impressive and has greatly improved heating quality and efficiency in our house. Recently he came out to do a free maintenance check up on the system to ensure it was properly working.
I feel confident that I will continue to use Philco for future HVAC needs, and strongly recommend him.
"

"The process of them putting in a sump-pump system in my basement getting water seepage went pretty well. It took them a long time to get to me because, from what I understand, they stay pretty busy. I was initially told my job wouldn't get done until February 29, 2016 but they then had an opening on December 23, 2015 and they came in and jack-hammered around the perimeter of my basement, where the water was coming in, and installed the piping, sump-pump and reservoir. Initially I was told it would be a one day job but as it happened, they had to come back later to finish up. The first day they did do everything except bury the outlet pipe outside and then re-cementing over where they had dug up my basement to install the piping. For about a week I did have a gravel filled trench in my basement but at least I didn't spend Christmas shop-vacuuming up water like I had been doing. They came back on December 30, 2015 for about half a day and finished up the job.

I thought the people at Seal-Tite were very nice to deal with. Initially their estimate was over $3,000.00 but they gave me a little discount for having to reschedule my initial assessment and quote in November and they also honored their Angie's list coupon.

The important thing, the water has stopped flowing into my basement which ruined my carpet which I had removed by another contractor. I now have the task of picking out new carpeting, getting the new cement sealed, etc., which will be handled by someone else.

So far, everything they did seems to be working ok.

If you do hire them, be sure to give them a deposit so you can be put on their short list in case they have a cancellation. It saved me two months of waiting time for them to get to me on their schedule.

I did give them a "B" on their Responsiveness since they did take a while to get to me but it seems a lot of people these days are having water problems in their basements and crawlspaces so I can't "diss" them too much on that one. They did show up to do the job on time on both days which with contractors these days, from my experience, is a miracle.
"

"As often happens with renovations, some things were unexpected. A lot of problems were related to replacing a shower stall that had never been installed properly and was leaking water. After removing the old stall I had Todd from Prestige look at what the builder had done. He found that the shower drain had not been installed correctly, and of course it was now embedded in concrete. Todd gave me advice as to what would have to be done to fix it properly. I rented some demolition tools and Todd carefully removed enough concrete to allow the new drain connection to be made. This was far from plumbing work but I was happy to hear that he had done it before. The new shower now looks and works great!
Several pipes had to be repaired or moved. A week or so after repairs were completed, one pipe started seeping. Todd came back and fixed the leak at no charge under warranty. But he went a step further and noticed that the water heater valve had started leaking as well. He did some tests and found that the water pressure reducer valve had failed and that was causing the pressure in the house to be double what it should have been. Todd was able to replace the valve with parts from his truck and the issue was resolved in one visit.
I'm very happy to have a plumber that is knowledgeable, professional, and stands behind their work."

"Ordered the health scan report to get a comprehensive analysis of our water beyond the suspected problem of bacteria. The sample kit arrived within a couple days. The results took about a week and a half. The results even identified the species bacteria and yeasts and included information on each."

FAQs for sump pump repair or replace projects in Churchville, VA

Sump pumps last about 10 years with proper maintenance and prompt repairs. Several factors can influence your sump pump’s lifespan, such as usage, environmental conditions, and installation. Premium sump pumps with heavy-duty motors and quality components tend to last longer than lower-cost models. Pedestal sump pumps usually last longer than submersible models since they’re not constantly exposed to water.

A basement French drain is a drainage system installed in basements or around a building’s foundation to redirect water and prevent flooding. This system features a trench with a perforated pipe that catches and transports water away. These systems can crack, freeze, or clog, potentially resulting in flooding or strain on your sump pump.

You can use a sump pump in your yard to minimize pooling water and landscape damage, but it’s best used in conjunction with other drainage systems. This can include French drains, trench drains, underground downspouts, and other equipment. Proper lawn care, such as soil aeration and native plants, also aids with drainage.
