"They did a very nice job. My fireplace looked like new. I had some trouble with the pilot light and now it works really well. They were very prompt. I have had them out since then to replace a chimney cap. I will use them again."

"The old fireplace was rusted and had to be replaced together with the flue and the covers at the top of the chimney. The project was done on time and at the cost within the limits quoted initially. There were no cost surprises at the end of the project. They also work with a credit company that can finance the project for a good deal (no interest for 18 months at that time). The team was professional and they finished the work on time (the actual work took about two days). The cost was maybe a bit more pricey than the average, but the job was well done and without extra costs or surprises at the end."

"WE believe in the importance of keeping a chimney clean so finding someone to do it that was quality was our goal when we moved to the northwoods of Menominee County MI. UP Chimney has been our go to for this job and they do a great job. Very professional - a very dirty job indeed, however you would never know it from the way they keep the area clean. Nice job UP Chimney"

"Excellent. They also installed my new Trane furnace last fall and I have nothing but the utmost respect for their professionalism, skill and the quality products they install. I recommend them without reservation.
For our new water heater, the installation is solid and clean. The edges of all venting that had to be created to the outside of the house are cleanly cut and waterproofed -- very nice! The hot water supply is outstanding! We are very happy with all the services Byron's has helped us with so far. I won't use anyone but them from now on.
"

"They are very good. Yes, I would use them again if necessary. They filled up all the holes for them to enter. They made a one way exit for them and they could not get back in. The service was excellent. The service worked for me."

"Excellent customer service by phone. But... please read it all!

Good on site explanation of the process involved, with some omissions. (Those of us who do not do this work for a living do not know everything to ask!) A hole is drilled into the concrete slab so a nozzle can be inserted and their material can be pumped under the slab, which will raise it to the proper level. The hole is about the size of your pinky. The tech who is doing the job will then add a little sand to conceal this small hole as much as possible. THIS IS TRUE.

What is also true: The material pumped under the slab has a very sticky nature and the overspray sticks to the area around the pinky hole. This allows the sand to stick to the surface around the hole leaving a spot about the size of your palm. We're 'assuming' this will wear away in time.
It is also true the slab being corrected can crack when it's being raised.

It is also true the drill will pierce the concrete and can sever a wire under your sidewalk. Yes... it did.
This knocked an electric post lantern out of service in our front yard. Certainly not life threatening, but c'mon.
Once we had figured out what happened, I contacted Acculevel and was 'well treated' in the sense I was given the impression Acculevel would make it right.
I had a professional electrician (all A's on Angie's List) inspect the situation and I was given a "repair" quote and a "perfection" quote. The repair quote was $260 and would restore the light to the way the builder had installed it. The perfection quote was around $900 and would get the electric line buried deeper and placed in conduit, rather than simple UF cable. I asked Acculevel to pay for the repair, and told them I would most likely pay the electrician to do the perfection version.

Acculevel determined they should pay half of the repair quote. I do not know their formula for calculating how much of the severed electric line was my fault, but that's what they came up with. You decide.

I also asked Acculevel why they did not have the area marked prior to the work. (Our work involved drilling through the slabs... the lantern was right next to the sidewalk... and our work involved digging a trench to extend a downspout further into our yard and under the sidewalk. So... there's a fair amount of digging involved in this job and plenty of reason to call before you dig. 811)
Acculevel's response was: 'We don't do that.'

So the "Slab-Jack" work they did was done well. But I can't give them an A because of the damage done. They were very responsive to me from the quoting stage all the way through the final disappointment. So, they get an A for that.
I gave them a C for professionalism because C is average. I thought I was working with an above average company but I don't feel they handled the problems professionally.
I feel the right thing to do would have been to pay the entire repair amount of $260 without protest.
I feel they should always call 811 to have an area marked when they will be digging OR drilling. (It's free! And, it would have saved me $900.)
IF YOU ARE WORKING WITH ACCULEVEL (OR ANY LANDSCAPER OR CONTRACTOR WHO IS GOING TO BE DIGGING OR DRILLING ON YOUR PROPERTY) ASK THEM IF THEY WILL HAVE YOUR PROPERTY MARKED IN ADVANCE OF THE JOB. IF THEY SAY NO, EITHER FIND ANOTHER SERVICE PROVIDER OR CALL 811 YOURSELF! It's just common sense!

I actually WOULD hire Acculevel again, and I recommend them! BUT - ASK EVERY QUESTION YOU CAN THINK OF and BEWARE that somehow severed electrical lines... TV cables... invisible fences... gas lines... and more, are NOT their fault. To Acculevel: I would seriously recommend putting the 811 call into your standard procedure. It would give you a REAL disclaimer to stand on should a line be damaged and was NOT marked. Also - place some sort of protector sheet on the slab (maybe with a stick back) BEFORE you drill through it. The protector sheet will catch most of the overspray and leave a neater look behind. Rather than a sloppy finish.

"
