"It went very well. Caine and Brice were prompt, and since there was no additional wiring to be done it took no time at all to replace the lights on the corners of the house. They then checked the kitchen outlet and found a loose wire that was causing the short, and it was an easy fix. I believe everything was done in less than an hour. I should mention I have used Foster Electric several times before, and have always been pleased with their service. They are my go-to service for anything I need electrical."

"Excellent team and professional electricians. For my home remodel, they went above and beyond my expectations. They removed the old electrical, fixtures, receptacles, panels, etc and installed everything new. They saved our home from a severe fire hazard, and they will be back to install the kitchen electrical again soon."

"Damon was terrific. He responded immediately, and came to the house within the week to install the conduit while he ordered the actual EV charge plug. He came back yesterday to finish the project, cleaned up after himself and all is great. Thank you Damon and Ajalon Electric. Will definitely use them again!!"

"This was one of the best experiences I have ever had with a contractor. They arrived on time, agreed on a plan of action, and followed through. They could have taken advantage of us, because we live 5 hours away...but they didn't just did the work, were so incredibly professional. They will always be our go to for electric work in that area."

"We are very happy with the work Scotty and his crew did. We moved into this house about 6 months ago. The home inspector failed to see that it was an electrical disaster. The previous owner did some shady electrical work that we didn’t catch until after we moved in. It had a 40 year old power panel that threw breakers anytime the oven, microwave,or dishwasher were used. Scotty came in and put a new panel and breakers in. He wired everything the way it was supposed to be and made it safe. He also added a couple exterior outlets on the porch. We couldn’t be happier with everything. He’s professional, thorough, and fair."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Cleveland, TN

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
