"Called and made appointment. Steve and Dave arrived within the 2 hour window. I was not sure if the fans needed replacing or just the thermostat. They went right to work, diagnosed the problem, explained what was needed and replaced the thermostat. When asked if anything else was needed, I asked them to wire the smoke detector and check the GFI which also needed replacing. Both Steve and Dave were very pleasant, honest and efficient. The cost was reasonable and I will use their service again."

This generator was installed on the side of a house. The window had to be replaced to allow for the generator to be placed in this location. The window was made to not open per code.
We installed this 14kW generator to power the whole house. We used load shed modules to be able to save the customer money by using a smaller generator than would have been needed if we didn't use the load shed modules.

"Powerworks, LLC first, I had my electrical panel replaced that needed to be updated to code. Powerworks was my 5th quote. I was looking for the lowest price technically acceptable. The technicians were on time, courteous, and friendly. I had many questions and the technicians took the pleasure in answering every question politely. As the job begin, I was kept informed of the next steps including when the inspection would be completed to receive my permit. The company worked as a team and did an exceptional job!!! I'm pleased and recommend this company for your electrical needs. Ms. Nelson"

"Kevin Williams was sent to repair problems created by another electrician hired by Kitchen Saver during an expansive kitchen re-face and cabinet installation. Among other things, he re-located an unsightly transformer that had been previously secured to the inside of the first shelf of a main kitchen cabinet to a lower cabinet out of sight. Voila! Then, he re-routed unsightly wiring previously clamped to the far corner of a glass display cabinet so that it was out of sight. These were difficult puzzles to solve, as the new cabinets had already been installed and there was no longer easy access. Kevin was friendly, professional, and experienced! Great job!"

Small jobs welcome

"Kenny is very knowledgeable and very responsive to all questions. I hired him to replace my electrical panel and install a 50 amp circuit. He let me know what was going on through the entire process. Very easy to work with for a good price! I would recommend him and will be calling him for any future electrical jobs."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Clinton, MD

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
