"They are very informed about systems throughout the house and are active educators for their clients for MAINTENANCE and saving money! The family owned business is impressive, as their son is ALREADY a JOURNEYMAN in both plumbing and I believe soon to be HVAC expert as well. They are serious about their knowledge and offerings. - Erin Fussell"

"This is the second time I've used 1st Choice Plumbing. The company is a one man operation that is run by Mr. Linneer Mabry. Mr. Mabry always gives a courtesy call. He was in the area so he called and asked if it was alright to arrive an hour early which was nice. He inspected our areas of concern, gave a quote and began the repairs and installation immediately. I was very satisfied with his work. Mr. Mabry called the next day to ensure that everything was working fine. He stands behind his work and takes no shortcuts. It's hard to find an honest plumber these days with such a hard work ethic."

"Mr. Foster installed new hot/cold water supply lines to a pedestal sink that had dripping supply lines. He replaced a badly corroded pressure reducing valve with a new valve which required cutting off the old valve. He replaced a cartridge in a bath tub that was dripping and properly installed the bath tub spout. Everything was installed properly and there was no more leakage."

"Atilio (owner) did work previously for our landlords at our rental home (installed gas range, installed kitchen sink). He came for an estimate within a day of the phone call, and provided an estimate via email within a couple of days. He came out on Saturday to cut drywall and prepare for the installation. He returned on Tuesday to complete the work - running the gas line from the basement (where the line enters the house for the furnace and water heater) to the kitchen and also to connect the lines for the fireplace. He also painted our exterior gas lines to make them look nicer (and less rusty). He returned again on Saturday once the stove had been delivered for the installation. Later on Saturday we called him again from a fireplace shop to get information about the line he had run (how many BTUs before we purchased a new burner mechanism) and he was very helpful, giving us advice to help save money on our gas bill. <br /> Atilio is a pleasure to work with and is very professional. He is very knowledgeable and we have been very satisfied with his work. <br />"

"<ul> <li>I spent hours on multiple visits to Plumbing Parts Plus spread over three weeks as I worked with their knowledgeable staff to select toilets, vanities, and plumbing fixtures. My friends ask why I didn't just go to my local big box store or buy on line (and I'm experienced at both). In a word, service. These guys know their stuff and are very accommodating to folks like me who need help. A shout out goes in particular to Pete and Carl, who bore with me as I slowly zeroed in on the products I wanted, with several changes of mind, and worked with me to get them despite problems with manufacturer schedules. Thanks to them my bathrooms look and work great and the renovation project was finished on time. Yes, I've calculated there was an incremental increase in cost but it was mostly due to the higher quality items I was purchasing than are typically available in big box stores. The service I got was priceless.</li> </ul> <br />"

"Again, I think VCA is fine as a daytime vet, and I don't have a lot of experience to comment there other than a few routine trips for vaccines. <br /> <br /> Where I have issues with VCA is I don't believe that they are very good at addressing emergency issues that aren't straightforward. I also on at least one occassion have had services performed during emergency hours without the costs clearly explained - which I think is unacceptable when those costs total more than $300 and you just explained to them that you've been dropped $300-400/week on vet bills (I guess maybe they instead construed that as willingness to pay?). In addition, I don't think they they are looking at all possible causes of the issue and are continuing to pursue a course of action which clearly hasn't been working and unwilling to work with the patient to keep costs reasonable. I perhaps am expecting too much of an emergency clinic - which is probably better suited to treat broken bones and the like. <br /> <br /> Regardless, because of the high costs of this place and because of my experience with this recent issue, I plan to switch to a vet that hopefully takes a more whollistic approach to animal health. Just as with your own health care, it's important to shop around."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Clinton, MD

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
