"Very pleased with work Gus did. He was involved with much of the work himself. Quick demolition, nice job on new patio. Came out several times to prepare concrete for sealing. Used 2 coats to seal slab. He will also be installing a patio cover for me in the next month."

"Prior to the job: Mr. Garcia came out to double check the job after giving me a verbal estimate over the phone. He also came by on another day to check on my progress of getting the ground pepared. He gave he several great suggestions!!! <br /> A crew of four showed up on time. They were there from 8am to 4pm. There was limited access to the area, so the job requried mostly wheel barrow trips. The day was cold so the concrete took longer to cure. They were courteous, very competent and PROFESSIONAL. I plan on using them for some more concrete jobs when the weather warms up."

"After a horrible experience with another landscaping contractor, Nigel and his team beat our expectations by miles. Creative, kind, considerate, hardworking, and industrious with the finest attention to detail. Solved major drainage problems. Added shrubs, trees, rock, gravel, and cactus garden in just the right places with a drip system to match. HIGHLY RECOMMEND."

"Contracted with Brad to have my back yard re-landscaped, which included a new paver patio. Even though they had to work around the weather (rain and cold), Brad’s men worked quickly and I’m loving the finished product. They arrived every morning around 8:00am and left around 5:00pm with a 1 hour or less lunch break. Before leaving at the end of the day, they cleaned up and made sure I could get my car out of the garage (due to the Bobcat). When I asked for small changes, they were quick to accommodate me. Brad arrived every day to make sure all was going as planned. When I needed more materials than expected, Brad went ahead and added it without charging me extra. I wholeheartedly recommend By the Yard Landscaping."

"Working with Chavez Concrete was a great experience - the team members were always on time, courteous, and professional. Wriley was very helpful and a good listener, especially since we didn't know exactly what we wanted. They removed and hauled away a lot of sand (base for the pavers), then set forms and poured the concrete. They returned in two days and cleaned, then sealed the concrete to give a wet look we like, even offering to return the next day for a second coat if needed."

"Dana did a fantastic job replacing our automated gate controllers and updating our gates for our storage businesses (X3). He was responsive when many gate companies were not. He showed up on time to give us estimates and completed work as scheduled. Dana is knowledgeable about required code and made sure that our gates, loops and systems were up-to-date and up to code. He is responsive when we have questions or things need adjustment--even several months later. We recommend this business for other commercial or personal jobs."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Cochiti Lake, NM

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
