"All Colorado Radon Mitigation Inc did an excellent job! The gentlemen that performed the work took extra care to make sure that the routing of the PVC was done correctly and still achieve the Radon level was going to be below the 4 pCi/L level that EPA requires. They did a very good job with putting the vent in the roof correctly and making sure that no leaks would come from their work. The Radon level that I recorded prior to their work was 15-17 pCi/L and now its down .3-.4. So yes they know what they are doing and they do it very well!"

"We were amazed and absolutely thrilled with the work done by Ace Radon. After I called, they set up a time to come out and see what was involved. The estimate was emailed later that same day. When we approved, they scheduled a time to do the mitigation. Both times men were prompt, professional, knowledgeable, and neat. They explained what they were doing and answered all our questions. The before radon tested 7.6, and afterwards tested .7 Needless to say, we'd highly recommend them!"

"Our pediatrician urged us to test for radon on our recently purchased home, due to the dangers that radon can pose. Our radon levels in the basement were averaging 12 on 2 different readings. (We use the accredited lab at UCCS for testing.) Pikes Peak Radon was recommended to us by the head of that lab. Doug worked with me over telephone and email, looking at pictures of our house and land and details of it's construction to determine that we did have a perimeter (French) drain and helped me locate the "daylight" where that drain empties onto our property. We also located a suitable place for the radon vent stack. He explained how tapping into a foundation drain is by far the most effective radon mitigation method. Doug gave me a quote over email and he and his team came out and got started. They had to dig much farther than expected to locate the foundation drain, but they worked hard throughout the morning, digging a secondary hole to stand in while continuing the first hole! Well, I think it turned out to be 11 feet straight down, but they located our perimeter drain and got the vent and fan expertly installed. While they were digging, Doug installed the fan monitor and controller in the basement. Then Doug installed a one way valve on the daylight for the drain and built a little house made of paver blocks around the outlet for the daylight to keep it from being disrupted by mowing. (The valve allows water to drain, as normal, from the foundation while preventing the exhaust fan from pulling fresh air through the daylight, and thus maintains the vacuum pressure that pulls radon from the foundation and exhausts it above the roof.). They expertly filled in the holes and cleaned everything up and Doug explained everything to me, including how to monitor the system and know it is working. A week later a 3rd test at the UCCS radon lab revealed our radon levels were down to 0.4 from 12! Doug and his team were great throughout and this was a small price to pay for the safety of our family."

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Colorado Springs, CO

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
