"We weren't certain a ceiling fan could be installed in the location due to a flat roof and the electrical box not being large enough. Hedgehog Electric offered to come for FREE to look at the job and give an estimate. Robert came to my home, examined the project, gave me a price and completed the project right then for the special price of $75. He was friendly, professional and did a great job. I will certainly call Hedgehog Electric for ANY electrical needs in the future ~ plus, I'm telling everyone I know!"

"We found Alexander Technical Resources (ATR) through Angie's List and were a bit skeptical about remote access and remote repairs on our computer, but Thomas at ATR did an outstanding job for us. He went above and beyond the call of duty and got our computer humming like a sewing machine.  It was money well spent and I did not have to lug my computer around town or have strangers in the house for 4 hours. I can definitely recommend ATR to you and I would not hesitate to use them again if it became necessary. <br />"

"The person performing the service had to make several trips because one of the "new" parts turned out to be faulty. I found both Complete Protection and their local repair contractor to be both very responsive and totally professional at every stage of the repair process."

"We were very happy with the concrete work estimate, the plan for the small project, and the completed project itself.  I would definitely consider Odell Complete Concrete for future projects at our home in Fountain Valley, CA.  David Odell was very punctual to meet for the initial work estimate and his estimate was comparable to another estimate received previously this year.  For the small project proposed, Odell did NOT require an 'up front' deposit that smaller companies sometimes ask for in order to schedule a job.  <br /> While our concrete work was relatively small in scope, we were looking for a licensed and insured concrete contractor that would give serious consideration to our backyard improvement project.  Last  year, we had to have 4 large trees including a huge Ficus and even larger Brazilian Pepper Tree cut down with stump grinding because their roots had started to lift the backyard cinder block wall fence. <br /> After waiting about 6 months to see if any settling would occur (none that we could tell), we wanted to apply a cosmetic repair to the block wall fence by having small 1/4 inch or so cracks between the blocks filled with mortar on both sides of the fence. Otherwise, we were told last year that fully removing and replacing the lifted block wall fence would cost about $2000 for each of the sections.  Having the cracks filled with mortar on both sides was more cost effective, especially since the amount of block wall separation was fairly small and actually unnoticeable after the cracks were filled.  <br /> The modification of our patio drain system by adding 2 new drains was also needed because a low spot existed in our patio that allowed an inch or so of water to stand and this led to a lot brown and green algae growth that we wanted to eliminate. The new and replaced concrete surfaces matched the original surfaces in form and texture.  One section in the patio had a small pebble stone finish and another section had a pitted salt finish. <br />    <br /> The entire project was completed in only 3 days elapsed time and the work site was cleaned up daily.  Odell Complete Concrete did a great job and the estimated cost was what we paid plus a small change order of $50 for additional concrete that I requested after our first planning meeting."

"I researched several companies on line after deciding I didn?t want to try this myself, having opened an iPod before and encountered a problem. I was not pleased with the price of batteries or service from other companies. Then a friend recommended ?iResQ.? I checked out the website, and called. They answered the phone. That alone was a great sign. The price was right, the process was easy and fast, so I gave it a try. They received it, replaced the battery sent it out UPS the same day. I got it 2 days later. They answered email promptly and were friendly and knowledgeable on the phone. I?ll go back whenever I need Apple products repaired."

"Their service is always great. Punctuality depends on what contractor is contracted for the job. They respond to me very quickly. If I put in a request they are very responsive but if they call somebody to come like the plumber sometimes they don't come when they are supposed to. Regardless of the cost of the repair you pay the contractor $100. At least that's the plan that I have."

FAQs for generator repair projects in Colorado City, AZ

There is often some confusion about the type of work these professionals do. They only work on electrical systems such as outlets, lighting fixtures and electrical panels – they aren’t appliance repairmen.

There are three types of electricians: Master, Journeyman and Apprentice. Electrical licensing varies quite a bit by state. Some have licenses for apprentices and some do not. Some have a master’s rank while others stop at journeyman. Despite the differences, they all require a minimum amount of experience and usually classroom time.

  • Apprentice electricians aren’t usually licensed and spend 4 years learning the trade. Throughout that time, they work on a wide range of projects to learn to become a Journeyman. They’ll do basic work like installing fixtures and replacing outlets all the way to assisting in wiring a home. Regardless of the type of project, they must always be supervised by a Journeyman or Master electrician.

  • Journeymen work without supervision. In a few states, this is the highest level available and they can do all levels of work from wiring a new home to installing a light. In some states, they need a separate electrical contractor license to run a business. In places with a master’s level, a journeyman can do all work besides design new electrical systems.

  • Master electricians usually manage a shop, design new electrical systems in new construction and oversee both Journeyman and Apprentices. They typically bid new projects. Though they focus on larger projects, it’s not unheard of for a homeowner to request a Master Electrician for a house call. If you do, expect to spend up to 25% more for the visit.

Generally, you don’t tip electricians, but that’s not to say they don’t appreciate it if you do. You can offer them something to drink or eat, like coffee and donuts. Most will appreciate it if you do.

The education and certifications required to become an electrician vary by state, though they generally follow this list:

  1. Apprentice

    • Does not always require a license depending on the state.

    • Learns on the job under Journeyman and Master Electricians.

    • Usually needs 4 years on-the-job training before they can test for a Journeyman license. Many states also require a technical degree to advance.

    • Always require supervision.

  2. Journeyman

    • Needs between 8,000 to 10,000 hours of on-the-job training and usually 500 to 1,000 hours of classroom experience.

    • Can usually supervise apprentices.

    • They can diagnose and repair electrical problems.

  3. Master

    • Achieved after an additional two years (4,000 hours) working as a Journeyman and taking the Master Electrician Exam.

    • Besides diagnosing and repairing electrical systems, they also design them. In most places they run shops and inspect Journeyman and Apprentice work.

    • Not a recognized rank in all states.

  4. Electrical Contractor License is an optional license in some states for a Master Electrician to run a business. Some states have this instead of the Master license.

Electricians make an average of $26 per hour but it ranges with experience and licensing. An apprentice may make about half that while a Master Electrician may hit closer to $40 per hour. This figure represents how much they make; not how much they bill. Their salary is only one component of their costs. They must also figure in overhead, taxes, equipment, insurance and several other expenses.

Leave electrical work to the professionals. Electrical systems are complex and potentially hazardous when not handled and installed correctly. If it were easy, it wouldn’t take 4 years to become a journeyman or 6 years for a master’s license. If you are determined to forge ahead yourself, understand home electrical safety before beginning any project.Even for simple common electrical projects, a licensed pro is best. Not only is it safer, but contractors guarantee and insure their work. Hire a professional to keep your home’s electrical systems functioning properly and safely.
