"After receiving 3 quotes for replacing my deteriorating retaining wall, I chose J&R Chavez Landscaping. Positive reviews, the owner’s assessment, and a reasonable estimate convinced me. I accepted their bid on December 29, 2025. J&R submitted the permit request two days later. Unfortunately, the permit was approved on February 13, 2026, outside contractor control. Work began on February 16, with a good crew working when weather permitted. Delays due to quite bad winter were unavoidable. They discovered the old wall lacked a proper footing so the estimate was adjusted to install a new footing. Jose was transparent about necessary adjustments. The installation took until April 4, 2026, due to weather delays and town inspections. I’m very pleased with the strong, well-drained wall. I enjoyed dealing with J&R Chavez Landscaping with two small issues, communication about delays could be improved and Jose never got back to me about some agreed post job landscaping. Still, great job."

"Great service. Eddie Cox come out on a Monday and told me what the worker would do. The worker came out on Wednesday on time both days and did and amazing job. The worker clean up all concrete you would never know they were there.I live in LaPlata had to get permission to widen the end of my driveway. You would never know that that they touch my driveway it look beautiful. I call several concrete companies in Charles county and these company were rude and took week to call me back. One companies I call still waiting for a call back. But thank to 7th State Builders, LLC I got the job done and excellent job. Due to a stroke I had the driveway widen to give me more freedom. So if you need concrete work big or small job call 7th State Builders to get it done right. I am a woman writing this review very happy with this company. Very professional staff to deal with. "George and his crew replaced our 26 year old asphalt driveway. It was in desperate need of replacement, and his crew was able to get it completed in a half day - and did an excellent job. Our neighbor saw his work and hired him to replace their driveway as well. We're both very happy with the work, and George was very helpful and communicated with us throughout the process. His price was very reasonable as well. Definitely recommended!"

I called another company that charged $200 for an estimate.  They gave me a written estimate with pictures, and told me that smoke was leaking from one flu to the next because of cracked flu tiles.  They recommended two stainless steel flu liners, replacing the crown, replacing the four bad bricks, and sealing the outside of the chimney at a cost of $13000.  That wasn't going to happen.  I sent the pictures to another chimney repair company and they would do the same work for $6000. What an eye opener!  How could there be such a disparity?  That's when I called Metropolitan Chimney.  Adolfo looked at the chimney and saw that the cracked flu tiles were near the top of the chimney and could be replaced without needing to reline the flues.  Aldofo was the only person to diagnose the leaking problem. He said, " the two flues were so close together at the top of the chimney. Smoke from one fireplace rose out of the chimney and was sucked down into the adjacent flu,  The smoke came into the house through the other fireplace." The problem was solved with the installation of chimney cap dampers on each flu. I have had a fire in both fireplaces, and smoke has not leaked back into the house.  Aldofo and his coworker were honest, did the work that week, left the house clean, and saved me a lot of money.  It is important to note that the flu liners recommended by the other companies would not have solved the problem of smoke leaking back  into the house. Only Adolfo understood the physical phenomenon of negative pressure as it applied to my fireplaces.

"They worked very hard to level and square the retaining walls and patios. We were very impressed by the lack of cutting corners. Our original patio and retaining walls were never properly installed and they appear to have corrected this problem. For years, we also had a drainage problem on the two sides of the house. They installed a French drain on one side and a basin drain on the other. Time will tell if this completely solves the problem, but the drains were working over the last two days of rain. We were so impressed by the quality of their work that we are having them come back to do a few more landscaping items.

"Fernando cut and removed all the mortar joints on my stone walkway. Then he installed new mortar. He showed up on the date and time we discussed and the work was completed on time. He was clean and respectful of my property. He took the time to carefully remove old mortar and preserve our existing stones. The walkway looks great and we plan on hiring Fernando again!"

"they came and went when they said. i was very please with all they did. i asked them to build me a handicap ramp after all work was performed. and they did within 2 days that was completed. and i was very please. i'm able to get out of house on my own now. with the way it was build.

"Their pricing was fair; it was worth it.  I just think that the work they did was quality and worth the price.  The work was better than what I expected.  The workers were great.  They really went beyond my expectations, so I don't have anything to complain about."

"The process began with their designer, Jean, coming to the house and discussing what we wanted and offering some ideas.  Within days we had an estimate and design.  We revised from there and agreed to the work.  They actually were able to being early as another job had to be delayed as the people were not ready for them.  The workers were good and efficient and Colin, the owner, made certain work proceeded well and any questions we had were promptly answered.  Their workmanship is wonderful.  The stairs and decking on them are great with added touches that made them work for getting to the yard better than expected.   The pavers are beautiful and perfectly installed and the retaining wall is simply outstanding -- the have great stone workers.  All nice to work with and attentive to us and detail.
