Small jobs welcome

"Great! It’s not easy to find companies to clean composite decking, which was what led us to contacting City Clean. Once we did, the estimate was provided very quickly and Dan was very responsive to every phone call and question. The crew that came to do the work was courteous, professional, and did a thorough job. When they were finished, our siding, concrete and deck all looked like new - no exaggeration! We were extremely pleased with City Clean, and will call on them annually in the future for any exterior cleaning that our home needs. Don’t hesitate to give them a try!"

We use a special proprietary blend of cleaning agents that will not only kill all of the growth, it will greatly lengthen the time required between cleanings. This solution will not harm people, plants, or animals and is not harmful to the roof itself.

"Kurt was easy to reach via email or telephone. Apprised us of his approach to stripping our deck of its horrible paint coating and was upfront of the general cost during his first visit. He did need to be reminded to provide a specific contract upfront. Otherwise, deck restoration work progressed quickly once weather conditions permitted start and Kurt finished the large project within a few days."

"Well, first off, I thought he might not be interested because it took a while to get his quote back, but then his quote was significantly lower that another Angie's List contractor.  After reviewing the proposal carefully with him, and reading all the reviews of his company I decided to go with him.  The work included installing a surface level french drain, regrading, adding soil and re-sodding about 300 sq ft of lawn.  Further more, I added some additional landscaping, adding a row of seven (7) 4' skip laurel bushes along a fence line to provide a visual break into my neighbor's yard and redoing an "eyesore on the side of my house by cleaning it up and putting in 40 big bell liriope plants.  This included digging the areas out, removing all debris and mulching.  Weather caused us to postpone installation for a day, but they arrived early on the new day and went right to work.  They finished by mid-afternoon and cleaned up and were out.  The crew was friendly and professional.  The work looks good so far, but it will take a bit for the plants and sod to establish, but things appear to be going nicely.
I rated the professionalism down to a B because although they said that they were going to have a phone line in the yard marked by MissUtility, they did not.  I had to show them approximately where the phone line was and where the water line for my sprinklers was.  They were very careful in digging, but the phone line as buried deep enough that we did not encounter it.  They did discover the water lines but were very careful in working around them.
I expect in a month or two, the yard will look beautiful, and am confident that if there are any problems they'll come back to solve them. (I am NOT expecting any problems.  Everything looks great so far)

FAQs for powerwashing projects in Columbia, MD

Different fence materials require specific pressure levels for safe, effective cleaning. Softwood fences need gentle treatment at 500 PSI maximum, while more durable materials like vinyl and steel can withstand up to 2,000 PSI. Wrought iron fences tolerate the highest pressure at approximately 2,300 PSI. Always begin with the lowest effective setting and maintain appropriate distance from the surface to prevent damage, gradually adjusting as needed based on cleaning results and material response.

The primary distinction between pressure washing and power washing lies in water temperature. Standard pressure washing equipment uses ambient temperature water, while power washing incorporates heated water for enhanced cleaning capability. The heat component makes power washing particularly effective for stubborn stains and organic growth, but it costs more than conventional pressure washing. For routine fence maintenance, standard pressure washing provides sufficient cleaning power without the additional expense.

The decision between professional service and DIY fence cleaning depends on several factors, including equipment access, technical knowledge, and fence characteristics. Equipment rental costs between $40 and $90 daily, making DIY viable for smaller projects. However, professionals bring expertise in appropriate pressure settings, efficient techniques, and proper cleaning solutions. For delicate materials like softwood or ornate fence designs, professional service significantly reduces the risk of damage while ensuring thorough cleaning results.

The duration of a fence pressure washing project varies based on multiple factors, including fence size, material, condition, and accessibility. A standard residential fence cleaning requires several hours to complete, with preparation, cleaning, and cleanup all factored into the timeline. Heavily soiled surfaces, intricate designs, or limited access points may extend the project duration. When planning your schedule, allow sufficient time for the fence to dry completely before applying any treatments or sealants.
