"I can not say enough about this company. We contacted them with an immediate need for a chair lift for my mother as well as bars installed in her shower and bathroom. I left a voicemail with my needs after hours and was contacted the next morning right when they opened. They were so helpful and accommodating. The customer service at Shaw & Ott is above and beyond. They were not only so compassionate but so helpful to discuss all of my options. They had someone out to look at my mothers home immediately . My father was so impressed with them and they assured him they would have my mother all set up before she came home from the hospital. Each person we dealt with was beyond proffesional . I NEVER do reviews and felt compelled to do one for this wonderful company. I don't know that I have ever been more impressed with a company services. I will continue to reccomend them to everyone I know."

"The project took about three weeks, and of course, there was dust everywhere as the cement floor had to be dug out in spots, and walls torn down. Plumbing was reconfigured to accommodate the new shower and the wall-hanging toilet and sink. A much-needed utility tub was added on the spur of the moment, as was a new hot water heater. New wallboard was hung and primed and painted. Doorways were redesigned so that my husband can get about more easily in his scooter and Jazzy wheelchair. The workers were hard-working and very trustworthy. The job took place in the wintertime, with lots of snow at times, including the blizzard of '08. Everyone was careful to keep from tracking in too much dirt into the house. At times like this, patience is a virtue! We made the best of it and made friends in the process."

"I hired My Handyman to help with a water leakage problem in my bi-level home. They came out promptly to diagnose the problem and provided a reasonable estimate. Within a week they had replaced my patio door and the rotted floorboards underneath. They kept me updated and did the work exactly as promised. Reliable and trustworthy. Cleaned up afterwards. I am thrilled with the results so far and would recommend Trey and his staff for your home project. I will use them again for future projects."

FAQs for elevator installation and replacement projects in Columbus, OH

With proper maintenance and regular professional inspections, a quality shaftless elevator can provide reliable service for many years. The system's longevity depends largely on usage patterns, maintenance frequency, and component quality.

Establishing a relationship with a qualified service provider and following the manufacturer's maintenance recommendations can significantly extend your elevator's functional lifespan and ensure continued safe operation.

Standard homeowners’ insurance policies may provide limited coverage for damage to elevator equipment caused by covered perils such as fire or severe weather, but often exclude mechanical failures or normal wear.

Before installation, contact your insurance provider to understand coverage limitations and determine whether you need additional protection. Most insurers require notification when adding an elevator to your home, and some may adjust your premium accordingly.

Residential elevator systems require dedicated electrical circuits with appropriate voltage to operate safely and reliably. The specific power requirements vary by manufacturer and model. Before installation, a qualified electrician should evaluate your home's electrical system to determine whether upgrades are necessary to support the elevator's operation, including any backup power systems that might be recommended for safety during outages.

Weight capacity varies by manufacturer and model, with most residential systems designed to accommodate one or two passengers safely. The elevator's documentation will specify maximum weight limits, which should never be exceeded for safety reasons.

If you need to transport heavier loads or accommodate mobility devices, discuss these requirements with your elevator provider to ensure you select an appropriately rated system.
