"Bruce C Our well pump was having pressure problems, so we called Wells to check it out. After a thorough inspection, the bad news was that the pump was wearing out. It was 14 years old and servicing three families, so with Wisconsin winters and below zero temperatures, plus Christmas approaching, we knew it was time. Wells provided a detailed estimate for the new pump and recommended parts that should be replaced. We scheduled the service, though we had to wait about a week due to heavy snow and sub-zero temperatures. The weather finally warmed above zero the morning they arrived at 7 AM to start the work. Mike explained everything he was going to do before getting started. He was very knowledgeable and patient, answering all of my questions clearly. The crew worked all day, and we had water flowing again by 2 PM. Highly recommend Wells."

"Working with Jeff (owner) from Hillestad was a very easy positive experience from the first call to the end. He was a straight forward guy who took a lot of time answering my questions and setting up a quick appt as I had a gas leak. We had a 67 yo furnace which, per other companies, was in a challenging place. Jeff was unfazed about any challenges working in a 100 yo house with a 67 yo furnace. Very professional and down to earth guy. No high pressure sales tactics. We had several other quotes for a furnace and AC so I had a good basis from which to evaluate their service which was excellent. His quote was 2-4000$ less than the other quotes. Fair honest prompt and easy to reach by phone. His crew was as good as I could expect, on time, and cleaned up every thing entirely. I could not imagine a better company with whom to work"

"First there were a couple of delays due to COVID, the weather, and a truck broke down. The window guys were over 2 hours late. While excavating near the house, the workers “accidentally” broke our water main. This of course was our fault and cost us an additional $3000! Read your contract. There is a small clause about accidents not being their fault. Subsequently, we had no water for two days and a large plumbing bill from a plumber they sent. This may not be over."

FAQs for sump pump repair or replace projects in Cottage Grove, WI

Sump pumps last about 10 years with proper maintenance and prompt repairs. Several factors can influence your sump pump’s lifespan, such as usage, environmental conditions, and installation. Premium sump pumps with heavy-duty motors and quality components tend to last longer than lower-cost models. Pedestal sump pumps usually last longer than submersible models since they’re not constantly exposed to water.

A basement French drain is a drainage system installed in basements or around a building’s foundation to redirect water and prevent flooding. This system features a trench with a perforated pipe that catches and transports water away. These systems can crack, freeze, or clog, potentially resulting in flooding or strain on your sump pump.

You can use a sump pump in your yard to minimize pooling water and landscape damage, but it’s best used in conjunction with other drainage systems. This can include French drains, trench drains, underground downspouts, and other equipment. Proper lawn care, such as soil aeration and native plants, also aids with drainage.
