"The owner and his son arrived to give me a free estimate of the required fixes. Normally I would have done the work myself, however my schedule just would not allow the time needed to do the repairs. I was quoted $285.00 to replace the water shut off on the wall and the water regulator inside the tank. Keeping in mind a new toilet costs on average $125.00 at any local home improvement store I was a bit shocked by their quote. Given my time constraints and the fear of a major water leak I had them do the work. Once I agreed to have them make the requested fixed the owner proceeded to tell me that I needed to replace all of the water shut off valves In not only the bathrooms but the entire house because they were “older”. Given I had personally installed these valves within the past 6 years during a major renovation, I knew they were installed correctly and had no visible defeats or leaks. The shut off valves function perfectly. Despite telling the owner that I wasn’t interested both he and his son continued to present worst case arguments to convince me to agree to plumbing work that was completely unnecessary. I also asked the owner to give me an estimate on replacing a flapper inside another toliet just to see what he would say. Again, I was quoted $285.00 to replace a $12 part that can be purchased at any home improvement store and literally takes 5 minutes to replace. The owner and his son were at my house for 2 .5 hrs to do work that at the very most would have taken me an hour to complete. They needed to leave and come back twice because they grabbed the wrong size shut off valve. These valves are a stock size and should have been easily available as stock parts in their truck. I even told them what size they would need when I scheduled the appointment. On the way out the door the owner paused and told me that I needed to replace the water resistant laminate flooring in the bathroom because it was all rotten. Upon inspection my 3 yr old floor was in perfect condition and in no way needed replacing. I had used this company several years ago and they were wonderful. Given my recent experience I will never use this company again."

"They replaced a Draft Inducer Motor on my Trane XR95 furnace. The replacement motor was an OEM Fasco BLW01139 that averages about $300. It took them about 90 minutes to complete and they charged me $983.82. Overpriced I will not be using Thermal again."
