"Mike and Jim did an outstanding job leveling, reinforcing and and structurally improving my mother's deck. They made certain that my 90 year old mother could safely navigate outdoors on the deck which is her very favorite place to be! I am beyond satisfied with this finished Deck repair project by Mike and Jim of Tri-state Home Repair & Maintenance. They have exceeded all our expectations!"

"James and Jaime were very helpful with replacing all of my closet doors. The price was fair, they took their time and even made recommendations on other jobs we’re looking to do without being pushy. The father and son duo work together well, they are very prompt and accommodating. We’re definitely hiring them for a few more projects! You won’t be disappointed."

"Queen City Pressure Washing built my front porch/deck working with local building inspector from pre-build approval through final product at a cost of 40% what another local contractor quoted me and that was using over 50% composite instead of all treated wood which what was the other contractor's plan . The lead man on the job was very personable and showed me several times details of how strong the deck would be engineered with support beyond standard requirements .  We are very happy with both the appearance of the deck and how solid it is now 14 months after completion. We would highly recommend this company ."

"As the walk around progressed and was coming to a close he stated the job was very big and would require alot of time.  I affirmed this was correct.  He said he would quote the work at $70.00 per man hour, with two men working to complete the job.  I remarked I had never had a quote stated in those terms, what type of time would we be talking about?  He wouldn't give me a time table so I pressed further and asked if he could give me at least a ballpark figure.  He finally said between $3-5,000.00.  With that kind of latitude in dollars I didn't feel comfortable securing his services.  I don't know if he was so busy he really didn't have the time to take on the job or what.  He was very nice to talk with and he responded in a very timely manner.  I just didn't feel comfortable working with a quote of that nature given the amount of work to be done.  I had other quotes and the firms quoted by the job, not by the hour.

"Jeremiah Schneider was very responsive, as were the bidders from the other two larger, more well-known firms. I had no problem with them, except that Jeremiah was over $2,000 less expensive than one and over $3,000 less expensive than the other. Because he had gotten good previous Angie's List reviews, I had no question that I would choose American Construction. Jeremiah was on time and was appropriately communicative about the process. He even deducted the $100 I had paid him for the earlier repair from his original proposal for replacing the roof. He cleaned up well at the end. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone."

"I hired them to install a wood deck. I had four separate companies give me estimates and they came in the lowest. I did not feel pressured from them. They listened to what I wanted when they came for the initial estimate. They removed the old deck and installed the new one. Solid quality deck. Would definitely use again."

FAQs for deck or porch repair projects in Dillsboro, IN

Composite and ipe hardwood decks provide the longest durability for your outdoor space. Composite decks last 30 years exactly, and ipe hardwood decks continue reliably for 75 years when maintained properly. Frequent cleaning and sealing preserve these materials and protect them against weathering. This exceptional endurance minimizes future repair needs and offers a solid, lasting investment.

Replacing your deck directly increases your home’s market value and enhances its curb appeal. A new deck returns between 50% and 65% of its cost in additional home value at resale. This upgrade not only modernizes your outdoor living space but also significantly bolsters buyer interest, ensuring that your investment adds both functionality and an attractive aesthetic.

You should replace your deck when visible signs of wear begin to compromise safety and functionality. The quality of maintenance and the durability of the chosen materials determine when a deck reaches the end of its life. For example, decks crafted from superior materials like mahogany or ipe hardwood can last over 50 years, while cedar decks require replacement after 15 to 20 years. Regular inspections help guide this decision.

Your deck needs to be replaced when clear structural issues compromise its safety. Indicators include soft spots, sunken boards, scattered wood shavings, and hollow sounds that indicate rot or pest damage. These symptoms show that simple repairs are insufficient to maintain a secure deck. A professional evaluation is essential to confirm whether full replacement is necessary to protect your outdoor living area.
