"My dryer worked fine on my first load of laundry yesterday, then did not dry at all on the second load. After joining Angie's List this morning and reviewing multiple service providers' reviews, I elected to call Mays Appliance Service for two reasons: first, the Overall 'A' rating, and, second. because there was no hint of negative feedback on his customer service attitude. I called Dave at 10:30 a.m. and reached his voice mail. I chose to leave a message (a test of his responsiveness) and received his return call at 10:45 a.m. We agreed on an appointment time of 'early afternoon.' At 12:30 p.m., Dave called to confirm he was on his way. He arrived at 1:00 p.m. and was personable, professional and efficient. By 1:30 p.m., he was gone, my clothes were already drying, and I had his assurance my dryer was in very good shape and should continue to serve me well for some time. Dave will certainly receive my recommendation if I am asked for a reference. By the way, I rated Dave's price as Good ('B'), although I don't have a frame of reference (quotes from other providers). He may very well have deserved an 'A' . . ."

"Dave arrived on time, was very pleasant.  He has been to my house before, and always is efficient and knowledgeable. <br />   Discussed a couple of possible solutions: the dryer has two thermostats: the basic one, and one emergency 'override' in case the first stopped functioning.  Without knowing which thermostat was defective (since the dryer was working fine when he came, of course), he chose to replace the basic one.  He left my old thermostat, telling me if there was still a problem(which meant  it was the emergency thermostat that needed replacement), he would put my old thermostat back in, and not charge me for the other.  He would then replace the defective emergency override thermostat. <br />   In the course of our discussion, I also learned very good info from Dave on features needed if/when I  purchased a new dryer in future.   <br />   My dryer is working fine, which means the problem was a defective 'basic' thermostat. <br />   There was a call-out charge, of course.  The wonderfully surprising thing was that I was charged for the actual work-time, which was 10 minutes only. <br />     Northgate repairs only the appliances they sell; a policy that seems to make for repair people who really know their jobs. One of the factors I consider when purchasing appliances is the fact that I know who I'm going to call for repair.  My current dryer is approx. 25-30 years old, and, now that it's repaired,  still doing everything I want it to. <br />"
