"Our 20-year-old brass sprinkler valves were leaking, creating a small flood in the backyard. It was a Sunday at 5 pm. I went on Angie's List and contacted 4 different companies. 2 companies never called back, 1 company called back FIVE days later. Wilhelm was the only one that picked up the phone that day! Very nice to get an immediate response. They told me what to do over the phone until he could come out the next day. I gave him a B for punctuality because he was 25 mins late for our appointment and didn't call so I wasn't sure if he was still coming or not. He replace all 3 valves with brand new Rainbird ones in about 50 minutes. Fast, efficient worker. I had to pay by check because he said they didn't take credit cards but the company's profile said they do accept Visas? Not a major issue for me but I know it is for some Angie's List members, so thought I'd mention. I didn't rate the pricing because they were the only company that came out and gave me a quote, so I don't know how the prices compare to everyone else's. However, I did look up the Rainbird valves on the internet and it seems I could have gotten Rainbird models for half price at Home Depot. The wife (Christian) told me that the ones he replaced were of "commercial" value (and more expensive & came with a 5 year warranty) and not sold in box stores. A week later, I noticed one valve spit out water forcibly when it came on and dripped the entire time that zone was on. I called Wilhelm and they said he'll come out the next day while I was at work and they would leave a biz card to let me know they had been by. I got home from work and didn't see a biz card so had to call to find out if they were still coming. I was told that he was on another job and if he didn't get to me that day, it will be the next day but even that wasn't for sure and I wasn't given a time window. Turns out they didn't come that day. The next day, Christian, called to say they were coming. But it was her who came, not Tom. I would have preferred Tom since he was the one who did the initial installation. She told me the valves spitting out water was "normal" and they were "designed to function that way." A plumber had told me the same thing previously about the hose (not sprinkler valves) so OK. She said there was something they could add to the valve to make it NOT do that but that I didn't really need it and it would just cost more money. I previously had brass valves that never did that but the drawback was the chemicals in the water corrodes those brass ones over time. For us, the brass option had lasted 20 yrs though and if I had known all the choices, I still would have opted to replace them with brass ones to avoid the spitting problem. (They are 3 times more costly, though, than the plastic Rainbird ones. However, if they last 20 years, I think they're worth it.). Anyway, after she left, I noticed one of the 3 new valves was leaking. I had to call Wilhelm back again when the leak wouldn't stop even after 7 hours continuously. Chris said Tom would fit me in the next day in between jobs and that he will call in the morning to give me a timeframe of when he'll be out to my house. The next morning, I still hadn't heard back from them so I called around 10 am to get a timeframe. Left a message and within 20 mins, Tom called back and gave me a timeframe. He called again an hour before to say he was on his way (I really appreciated that since it was the weekend and it allowed me to do errands to know when he would come instead of just making me sit around all day waiting without really knowing like so many contractors do). He fixed the leak (the seal was cracked) by replacing that part. He also installed these spring-like looking things in all three valves to control the spitting water issue. I was so thankful for that. I didn't even ask him to but he did it because I think he realized how much it bothered me. There was no charge for that or the return visits. All in all, a very good experience. We had some snags along the way; however, the leaky valve was a fluke and not an installation problem. Getting them to return was a juggle because it is summer (busiest season for sprinklers) and obviously, this company is in demand. Still, Wilhelm was there for me when no other sprinkler company was."

"We called California Arborist to diagnose and treat several trees that appeared sickly. Derrick promptly came out. He was extremely knowledgeable. Derrick quickly diagnosed the problem and suggested a treatment plan. We had Derrick treat the trees as suggested. Wow!! The trees almost immediately responded favorably to the treatment. I've spoken to other tree "services" in the past and they invariably recommend to just chop down the tree. What a pleasant change!

"It worked. Dave determined that I had a gopher with young pups (by examining the surface holes in the lawn). He administered the pest control, then came back each week for four consecutive weeks to make sure the problem was gone."

"Otero landscaping installed two trees on our property, did some leveling, prepping and sodding, also installed a sprinkler system, and some slope landscaping in three different areas around our house. Most of the slope landscaping did well, except for one area that did not do so well. They returned to see how they could fix this one area but it just never took. It may have been that we have really bad soil in that particular slope among other factors. We are very happy with the sod/lawn that they installed using a new designer sod: RTF. It is self repairing so if we get brown spots from the dogs, it will grow back in in a few weeks. This grass also grows fast. The trees are a palm tree and a shade tree in the back. they are also doing well. They also installed a railroad tie wall around the new lawn. We were pretty happy with the work. The job was originally supposed to take a week, but ended up taking two weeks. Of course we also kept adding more work to the original job. The owner if very nice and willing to fix anything that the customer is unhappy with or wants do to differently than the original plan."
