"Mike and Leo did a great job leveling my front steps taking care not to damage nearby landscaping. They were professional and efficient. They added sand to the poly crack to minimize the color difference where the crack was repaired. They also cleaned up the work area nicely. I would highly recommend Detroit Concrete Leveling."

"Right from the start everything went like "clockwork". Communications and scheduling were timely and accurate. Marsha kept us informed every step of the way. The estimate for the job was fair and reasonable and we signed on and scheduled the job. Showing up on time, communicating necessary information such as delivery of supplies and job scheduling are important. They followed through perfectly. The job was done in one day, the crew was professional, experienced and very clean. We are delighted with our new patio and we do not hesitate to recommend Exotic Pavers to anyone. So, do yourself a big favor, call them for an estimate...you'll be very glad you did!!"

"One screw type pier installed. 2 workers hand dug hole below bottom of foundation. Cleaned out under foundation for platform. Although foundation was deeper than I thought, the hole was done much better and quicker than I envisioned. Pier was screwed at bottom of hole with a hydraulic motor. Once limit on hydraulic pressure was reached, the pier was cut at proper level, platform installed, and cracked section of foundation was raised with a hydraulic jack. Crack in stonework closed up nicely without going too far and creating additional cracks. Workers had 5 and 15 years experience doing this work. Very professional and did a very nice job every step of the way. Note that I (homeowner) chose to move and reinstall landscaping stones and gutter drain. Also, tuckpointing/repairing the cracks was not included in the quote. I plan to do that myself at a later date."

"Tom and team did an excellent job. Very good crew. Deerbrook removed existing driveway and replaced with 6” concrete, including a vapor lock 20/20 additive at my request. They obtained all permits and inspections. I would definitely use again for other projects."

"After a large number of widely different quotes ranging in technology and price by tens of thousands of dollars, I had hired a structural engineer, Rick Hamman from Sheppard Engineering, to produce specs to address lateral movement in the walls of my basement that had resulted in cracks (no water) in my poured concrete foundation. Joe won my bid, and he performed all the work to spec, pulled appropriate city permits, was responsive to many phone calls, had a great crew, and worked within my needs as I prepared to list my house for sale. Joe is probably the most honest and fair contractor I've ever worked with. He wanted the job to be done exactly to the detailed engineering report, so he hired my engineer out of his own pocket to come in and walk him through the report leading up to the work; Rick was excellent but not cheap (worth every penny). Every job always has issues, and Joe was up front and fair in dealing with them, which is how I really judge a contractor/service. I can't recommend Joe's WaterBGone enough, I've already recommended him to friends and perhaps the highest praise, my realtor has referred him to clients and colleagues."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Dryden, MI

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
