"Mike and his team were great to work with! Mike and his designer worked well together to make sure everything went together well and would still go well with existing tile and vanity. The install crew was friendly and courteous, always willing to ask questions and adjust things to make sure everything was exactly as I wanted it. They cleaned up every day and made sure things were tidy when they left."

"Sometimes things work out better than expected... My wonderful wife, Camille, and I were in desperate need of someone who could patch some holes on the ceiling of our front porch. As seniors we were very aware that most people in the construction field were more than happy to provide only basic results at inflated prices. And, that's assuming any typical contractor would even consider our project - simply not enough profits to be worth their time. That really is what we were experiencing with the local contractors. We asked for a recommendation from our local Menard's store and they provided us the name and contact info for Terry Nadosy - owner of Handyman247 LLC. Oh my goodness, that was the best advice we've received in years. We figured if Menards recommended him he certainly was not a fly-by-night storm chaser. Or, someone who was taking advantage of local seniors. We really appreciate Menards for providing his name. But, what we most appreciate is the quality of human being Terry turned out to be. Camille and I are from an era of knowing the value of the "old-school" work ethic, how there was an importance for Great customer service, and where when a person told you they would do something - they would keep their word! Those were good days... When we first contacted Terry I explained the scope of our project. I also explained why having those holes patched was so very important to me to avoid a repeat of what I had experienced a few years before - an invasion of squirrels that would terrorize me by running around in the ceilings inside our house. It honestly drove me nuts! So, Terry understood how important this repair was to us, and he worked us into his busy schedule. He knew it was not going to be a highly profitable project for him - but how Very Important it was to Camille and me. We talked a little about what we needed done and he told me he would be over on Saturday to do a quote. To my surprise and delight he showed up. He looked at the project and said if we'd like he would go ahead and take care of it right then - who does that? So, he spent the next 3 1/2 hours doing the repair. I decided to sit on the porch to talk with him during his work, and it was so refreshing. But, that's a story for another day. Suffice it to say I was able to ascertain that Terry is a Quality Man who genuinely cares about the quality of his work and the satisfaction of his customers. We so appreciate that - and we so appreciate that he was able to help us and not gouge us on the price. Let me take this last moment to Highly Recommend Terry and Handyman247 LLC for projects that you may have that need doing. Terry is a Quality Person who will treat you right! Thanks again, Terry. "Our sump pump was running almost continuously for weeks, and listening closely by the water meter we knew that the main water line coming from the city was leaking. We got proposals from more than one contractor and selected Pearson because I liked their confidence and their proposed solution of how they would install a new main water line. They were a bit higher in price than others but I went with them. They did an outstanding job, with minimal excavation near the street, and zero mess with our landscaping as well as inside our home where the line meets the meter. The workers were professional, courteous and efficient. Our water was only turned off for under 3 hours, and the entire job including back fill of the excavation was about four and a half hours. I will absolutely be using Pearson for any and all plumbing issues in the future."

"We couldn't be happier! Alliance performed work on our home in early March, the week before we moved in - there were known foundation cracks, and the inspection also revealed a small amount of mold. From the first phone call, to the initial eval and quote, to the completion of work - everything was timely and professional. We elected to have them gut the small lower level (of our tri-level home), and are thankful we did - rotten floorboards and an additional crack were discovered. We were called and consulted prior to them doing some additional work that was required. The cracks were repaired, the containment process was excellent, and the work area was completely cleared of debris and was left tidy when they were finished. Then, all we had to do was wait for some torrential rain to see if the repairs worked! It is now June, and we've had 2 days of heavy rain - the type of rain that previously caused there to be water all over the lower level (this home was known to us for several years prior to purchase from a family member). I'm so thrilled to report that although our side yard is a lake (which normally meant that so was the basement), our basement is completely dry! Not a drop. We are so happy that we feel safe finishing the lower level now, and have some wonderful additional living and storage space. The cost for repair was 100% worth it. Thank you so much for everything!"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Durand, IL

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
