I was so impressed by Phil Halliburton, owner of the company, that I think I would have selected his company even if his estimate had not been the best price. I was concerned about financing and he said that he said he didn't offer financing because it would increase the cost he would need to quote. When I asked if he needed a retainer to start the project he said that I could simply write a check when the project was complete to my satisfaction. "Bought his coupon deal on Angie's list. Did superb work, cleaned up completely and all for a very reasonable price. But it took 2 or 3 days due to him showing up later in day and working late into evening whereas a crew would have been done in one day. Overall, outstanding work at a reasonable price and would hire again but only for small scale projects since he works by himself."

"Overall, we could not have asked for a better job to have been done. Shain and crew (2 other guys) did a phenomenal job. The back porch looks amazing.
The floor of the porch was original wood to the house (1930s era) and had rotted. They replaced the wood and built out new walls and installed new screens. The attic ladder is original to the house, so they decided to try and salvage the ladder if they could, rather than replace it; suffice to say, they saved the ladder and ensured that it's firmly back in its tracks and more sturdy than before. They salvaged wood from the porch to do some repairs to flooring in the house.
Each day they arrived on time - as a matter of fact, they called each day when they were en route. If they left during the course of the day, they always let us know when they'd be back.
It's clear that they're a talented, hardworking group of guys. I'll definitely be calling them in the future for other odd jobs that need to be done, and I've recommended them to friends already.
Do note, however, that even though the website states they accept credit cards, they in fact do not - cash or check only (which wasn't a problem for us, but could be for others needing/planning to pay by credit).
Overall, we're very happy with the level of craftmanship and how quickly they got everything done. They gave us an estimate on a Friday, started work Monday morning, finished Wednesday afternoon. And they came in spot on on their estimate.

"This is a solo venture by an experienced, high-level older gentleman--sort of a semi-retirement career. We contacted him in late May & specified that the job (replacing ~ 25 linear feet of masonite siding, plus reframing exterior wood around 3 large windows that was done a few years prior in a slipshod manner) was not an emergency. He was good about contacting us, set up initial inspection & estimate within a couple of weeks. Said that it would be a few more weeks until job could be done. Rainy weather intervened, etc., but he came out & did job in early Aug. Siding was much more time-consuming to pry off than he'd anticipated--really nailed in well!--but he did a careful  job, was happy to answer non-related home maintenance questions, and really didn't add much to initial estimate, considering how much longer it took. Very professional, and upfront about knowing his professional strengths and limitations. Returned 2 days later at my request to fix/install 2 malfunctioning doorknobs, again charging a very reasonable amount considering the time and labor involved (taking off door, rerouting hole). Would definitely use again.
