"Our nearly 20 year old back deck was tilting from possible frost heave through the years, and railings were coming loose. We needed it replaced. We received an estimate from Steve Thomas in the fall 2012, but weather prevented further work. We called in the spring 2013, and we were flexible for a start date, given weather and other jobs his crew had. The deck is about 10x20 elevated about 7 feet above ground in the back of our house. The construction work lasted one week. <br /> Demolition was done quickly and very professionally the first day. All old wood, etc. was removed and the area policed at the end of the day. Upon demolition, several rotten side boards were found that we agreed should be replaced. Construction lasted through the week. The construction was very well done, with screws, rather than nails, waterproofing boards connected to the house, sufficient lumber where needed. I was extremely pleased with the crew: Carlos, who took the old deck down and was the lead on construction; and Jeremy, who worked on the construction. Both are very professional, conscientious, and first rate at their work. I was very pleased to have them. Steve Thomas brought materials, checked with me and the crew during the day concerning any questions, and removed the demolished pieces. Deck staining took place about a week later, after the new lumber dried a bit. The deck looks so much better than I expected, and much more than the previous deck when it was newer. <br /> <br /> <br />"
