External Paint tape (prep)- this is where the project was very slow and time seem to take forever to complete ? 2 weeks of taping .

External Paint ? primer coat - excellent workmanship very happy 1 day

External Paint ? base color 2 coats - excellent workmanship took too long to complete-  8 days

"We were very pleased with the design, attention to detail and finished product. The entrance to deck is the slider off of our kitchen. The work dramatically improved our outdoor space while simultaneous expanding our kitchen/entertaining space such that guests can enjoy indoor or outdoor dining or a combination of both. Great job, strongly recommend!"

"JD is a great company. John is very knowledgeable and made sure that I understood all aspects of the project before work had begun. He was prompt in arrival each day of the job, and worked diligently throughout. When he had questions about my needs, or suggestions for the project he was clear and concise. Now you have a great chance here, but bear in mind: you can lose it all if you're not careful. Out of all men that beg for your business, maybe one in twenty will be actual skilled contractors. The rest will be speculators -- that's men trying to get between you and the actual workers to get some of the money that ought by rights be saved on your end. Even if you find one that has the time and means to finish your project, he'll maybe know nothing about decks; and he'll have to hire the job out on sub-contract. And then you're depending on a sub-contractor, who will rush the job through so he can get another contract just as quick as he can. This is the way that this works. John does his own work. And the men that work for him, work for HIM. He makes it his business to be there and to see their work."

"It is very convenient, and reasonably priced.  The only thing that they could work on is the punctuality of the pick up times.  The rest of the experience was satisfactory.  My daughter has also used them.  I would highly recommend this service."

"Stairs are okay but they charged me in full before project start because they couldn't invoice me for just the deposit. Then Pushed me to carpet them instead of drywalling the closet portion cuz they saved and reused the wood panels that weren't supposed to line up because I wanted the stairs completely rebuilt not just wider boards slapped on top. I had no choice of carpet some subcontractor showed up and installed medium pile light gray carpet and the owner or supervisor for Navarro only was there to start even tho her guys could not speak English to communicate with me she was supposed to return to check the work and she never did, when I called it sounded like she was at social hour with friends and didn't care cuz she already got her money. Haven't seen her or heard from her since and I've fallen down the stairs 3 times due to the carpet they had installed witch can't be removed without the staris looking like a horrible mismatch of old and new wood which defeats the whole point."

FAQs for deck or porch repair projects in East Hartland, CT

Composite and ipe hardwood decks provide the longest durability for your outdoor space. Composite decks last 30 years exactly, and ipe hardwood decks continue reliably for 75 years when maintained properly. Frequent cleaning and sealing preserve these materials and protect them against weathering. This exceptional endurance minimizes future repair needs and offers a solid, lasting investment.

Replacing your deck directly increases your home’s market value and enhances its curb appeal. A new deck returns between 50% and 65% of its cost in additional home value at resale. This upgrade not only modernizes your outdoor living space but also significantly bolsters buyer interest, ensuring that your investment adds both functionality and an attractive aesthetic.

You should replace your deck when visible signs of wear begin to compromise safety and functionality. The quality of maintenance and the durability of the chosen materials determine when a deck reaches the end of its life. For example, decks crafted from superior materials like mahogany or ipe hardwood can last over 50 years, while cedar decks require replacement after 15 to 20 years. Regular inspections help guide this decision.

Your deck needs to be replaced when clear structural issues compromise its safety. Indicators include soft spots, sunken boards, scattered wood shavings, and hollow sounds that indicate rot or pest damage. These symptoms show that simple repairs are insufficient to maintain a secure deck. A professional evaluation is essential to confirm whether full replacement is necessary to protect your outdoor living area.
