"Maplewood Plumbing was the 2nd company I called to replace a garbage disposal after the first company was blatantly trying to rip me off. The plumber they sent was on time, friendly, honest (he didn't try to upsell me models) and was less than a third the price of the 1st company I had called. Thankful for a company I can trust, I will absolutely use them again in the future!"

"By February 2012, less than a year after installation, I begin to have problems. So I called Mt Everest, and they come and fix things here and there, and I don't think much of it because other than the inconvenience of occasionally being too hot, it's not costing me too much money. =) Here are some of the receipts I could find... Mt. Everest - 2/16/12 - $194.12 Mt. Everest - 2/17/12 - $0.00 Mt. Everest - 2/18/12 - $0.00 --new company name-- Tiger - 1/22/13 - $210.00 (Became Club Member) Tiger - 8/16/13 - $0.00 Tiger - 5/16/14 - $0.00 (Waived/Warranty) Fast forward to October 2015, a little over four years after installation, I have a coolant leak somewhere that can't seem to get fixed, and Tiger has to keep recharging my "closed" system... the only difference is now I have to start paying for this service. (I guess Freon is expensive.) I start to panic because my family is undergoing financial hardships, and whatever money I once had went toward the air conditioner I purchased four years earlier. Thankfully, Tiger works with me on this, and I am grateful. However, they warn me that I will need to have the evaporator coils (???) changed out. EEEK! At this point, I am already $10,000 (plus) into this system, it is only four years old, and it is having major problems. Again, I have no money left, so I'm talking to lawyers, because from what I can understand from Tiger, it's a manufacturing defect, and now I have to pay Tiger tons of money (that I don't have) to fix something that shouldn't even be broken yet. (Warrenty still covered parts, but not labor.) Thankfully, Tiger comes through for me and I refrain from possibly taking legal action against manufacturers. On October 23rd, 2015, the coil gets swapped out. The technician thinks there might still be a leak somewhere, but nothing really comes of it. The parts are covered under warranty, Tiger is kind enough to waive the fee for labor. * * * * * The above gives Tiger five stars. I seriously had no money to pay them. I would have had to get a loan from somewhere. ...but... It is now July 18th, 2016, not even a year has passed since the installation of a new coil, and it is 74* in my house... I have the thermostat set at 70*. The temp coming out of the vents is around 68* - according to my meat thermostat. I have called Tiger, and we have an appointment for tomorrow. I fear that Tiger is going to tell me that I will need a recharged -- or new coils -- and I will have to pay them for service with money I still don't have. I'm praying everything still falls under a warranty. Pray for me, you all. I'll come update after my appointment and let you all know how it went. <3"

"Embrich Plumbing was excellent in every phase of this project. beginning with the initial contact through the installation and follow-up.  It is a very comforting feeling to have such confidence in a contractor to perform exactly the way anyone would want.  Embrich Plumbing is clearly a top tier plumbing contractor.  Highly recommend that anyone needing a professional, knowledgeable and competent plumbing contact Embrich Plumbing,  PLEASE NOTE:  the $5,000 cost was consistent with other contractor's bids received for the same work.  Embrich Plumbing was selected based on Angie's List ratings and the communication and urgency displayed by Embrich Plumbing. Del, Jennifer Embrich and staff were just excellent to do business with"

"It went very well! Joe arrived promptly and I explained what was needed and soon he was joined by Tony. They dug very neatly to expose the water leak and repaired the pipe, taking great care to refill the exposed area. They then spread new grass seed before covering the area with straw. Joe then listened while I explained another potential problem, saying he would mention it in the office and I would get a quote for that also. Judging on the work done already I would not hesitate to recommend them, and I'm sure they will perform the additional work just as well. I gave a 'good' rating on price because no one ever likes this type of expense but Beis Plumbing has my business - my grass has grown and I could not be more pleased!"

"Guarantee Plumbing was recommended to me by Kirkwood Plumbing as they do not do drain cleaning.  I called and a happy person answered and said he'd be there by late morning and he was.  <br /> He went right to work, cleared the drain and gave me valuable information on how to properly use the garbage disposal. <br />"

"<strong>Why We Choose Ed</strong> <br /> We had been looking for a plumber for around a month when we found Ed. We had several plumbing projects but one in particular that was bothersome. We?ve had a toilet flange that has been problematic for years. It was not flush to the floor causing our toilet to rock, which eventually caused the flange to break. Recently we tried to install a new toilet using the broken flange and decided we needed to have it fixed. <br /> Many of the plumbers we called immediately said that we would probably have to chip up the concrete in our basement floor to <br /> countersink the flange. This was worrisome to us as we had concerns about what future damage that might cause to our concrete subfloor. Also, we had concerns that if we wanted to install tile later on that the flange might end up too low below the floor to be effective. <br /> Ed?s response to our concerns was very practical and reassuring. He let us know that he couldn?t effectively evaluate the issue until he saw the toilet and that to truly know what flange solution would be appropriate he would have to remove the old flange. <br /> <strong>Ed?s Solution</strong> <br /> Needless to say we had Ed out and he was great. He removed the old flange, determined that a normal flange would still be too tall and wouldn?t allow the toilet to sit flush to the floor. Ed ended up installing metal rings that he bolted into the concrete subfloor. (A product he has used in his own home.) These rings weren?t as tall as a normal plastic flange and the bolts he used to secure the rings to the floor were much less destructive than having to chip out concrete to counter sink the flange.  Plus, we can use the flange as is if we ever decide to install a tile floor. <br /> Thanks Ed. We?re so happy to have a working bathroom again. <br /> <strong>Pricing</strong> <br /> We got several quotes and felt Ed?s pricing was very competitive if not slightly more affordable than most. <br /> <strong>Ladies Looking for a Plumber</strong> <br /> I work from home so I am typically the one hiring and letting vendors into our home to do repairs. (As well as coordinating repairs <br /> for our rental properties.) Finding professionals that I am comfortable with is always a priority. Ed is great! He is very much the loveable grandfather everyone wishes they had. Except he?s even better because he?s a great plumber! <br /> <strong>Who Are We?</strong> <br /> My husband and I are both professionals who also manage several rental properties in our spare time. <br /> <br />"

"Garrett arrived in a very timely manner. He assessed each job and then wrote out what each job would cost. Because the sink was a little tricky, he priced what the least cost would be to the most expensive cost. I appreciated that because I was working with just a few funds. There was no hope for the necklace. He completed the toilet repair in on time at all and then moved to the tricky kitchen. He was able to get the kitchen sink repaired at the least expensive cost. Garrett was very knowledgeable and he explained everything to me. He answered all the questions I had regarding the plumbing and what I needed to do to make sure I don't have future problems."

"The LaMartina Company did a fantastic job on a complex repair situation involving 3 floors of my house.  I was so pleased with their promptness, professionalism, competence, and friendliness. From now on, they are my "go-to" plumbing company! (By the way, the LaMartina Company on Picadilly is a different company from the Tony LaMartina Company.  Don't be confused!) <br />"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in East Saint Louis, IL

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
