"Even though we have a generator (which is supposed to keep the well working) we were out of water by the 3rd day of the power outage. When the power came back on it still didn't work so I found this company on Angie's list. Eric called me back early Monday morning and I explained the problem to him. He said he had a couple of jobs in front of us but would be out to help in the early afternoon. <br /> <br /> He came by about 2:00 pm and worked for over 2 hours to get the problem fixed. Our pump house is several hundred feet down at the bottom of a hill on our property in the woods. There was a lot of trees and debris on the road to the pumphouse from the storm so my husband helped clear the way with his chainsaw. Eric tested the electrical and everything at the pump. He explained exactly what he was doing and why. My husband said he was very friendly and very informative about how the pump works and what the problem was. <br /> <br /> The price seems a bit high at first glance but I still gave them an 'A' for Price because he worked for a long time. "A water chemistry analysis indicated our well water had significantly high manganese levels, which we wanted to minimize without using other chemicals or water softeners. In addition, we decided to replace our aging well pump and pressure tank. <br /> Pierce at JKA talked through options with us and then helped us find a system and components that met our unique and challenging goals. In addition to installing the new well pump and tanks, JKA also set us up with an Impressions water filter system and the associated piping. In addition, they replaced some of the old copper and metal piping with new plastic piping. JKA also previously helped us install a water filtration system in our barn to remove the manganese and also the sulfur smell from the water. <br /> Everyone was very professional. Pierce went back and forth with us numerous times as we fine tuned what we wanted. Rich, who did the majority of the actual work, did a super job and really listened to what was important to us regarding not only the functionality but also the aesthetic side of the systems. "With a backed up septic system and family in-bound to stay with us for the week my stress level was through the roof. The first company that evaluated our septic problem quoted over $1200 just to dig up the tank and complete a more complete evaluation! We checked Angie's list and decided on Affordable Septic. Affordable Septic was very helpful on the phone and had a vac truck re-routed to our house with in half an hour. An hour later we had a newly empty septic tank which alowed us to at least use the toilets until the problem could be discovered. Affordable Septic got the required permits the next morning and were digging up the tank by 9am. The crew was very respectful of our yard and performed the most surgical trenching I've ever seen. Our grass top layer was placed neatly to the side for re-use, and the trenches were only as big as needed to locate the pipes. We had discussed possible reasons for the septic backup and were told that 75% of the time the problem is simply broken distribution box/pipes that can crack and fall-in over time. Sure enough, along with a few plugs and a couple roots our distribution box was replaced along with the two crushed concrete distribution lines. Affordable septic also vacuumed out the drain field to ensure there weren't any plugs out of sight. By 4:00 they had completed the work, backfilled the trenches, and replaced the sod. Aside from a bid of dirty grass, and toilets that flush, you'd never know that they'd even been there. The work crew was very friendly and willing to talk us through the process. We are very satisifed with the work and the final price."
