"Everything went very well. We needed an inspection completed ASAP for an offer we were placing on home. I contacted 5-6 local inspection business's, Doug was one of the first inspectors to get back to me and was only one willing perform inspection on the coming weekend ($310). Doug was on time for the inspection and did a great job walking my wife and I through the inspection process. It was great to be present during the inspection so we could see any potential issues first hand. Doug has a high attention to detail, took a lot of pictures, and was able to provide a detailed inspection report in under 48 hours. A week later we scheduled the Radon Testing ( Additional $60), which we also received a detailed report as soon as it was completed. we His knowledge on home requirements, safety, and regulations is top notch. We were very pleased with the services provided from A+ Home Inspections and would recommend their inspection and testing services to anyone."

"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

"They sent out two plumbers for the job. Nice guys. I thought one was an apprentice because he was younger so I didn't say anything, then got a steep bill for the cost of 2 plumbers (they claimed they were giving my a break off the bill). The leak was fixed but water was coming out of my tub brown when I first turned it on, so I called em again. They told me to wait a while and see if it stopped, so I waited a couple months and called em to come out to fix it. They did fix it for free (but it was their error in the first place). Those few months of brown water when you started the bath ended up causing a corroded spot around the old tub drain. Not sure if I'll be able to fix that and get it looking nice."

"Our experience was excellent. As far as I know, he appeared to do a thorough job, answering questions and providing helpful tips as we went along the inspection process. A few small things I had noticed that he did not, but I knew the house a little better so maybe it was me being and quot;nit-picky.and quot; Overall, we were very pleased with the process, and we would definitely recommend his services. <br />"

"LeRoy (and son) are very personable. Our inspection was promptly scheduled, and we accompanied him and his son during the inspection. LeRoy is very personable, and shares his information in a very understandable manner. He provided us with some great insight regarding anticipated projects for the home as well. He promptly scheduled a return visit after requested repairs had been made. He has vast experience, and also state-of-the-art technology. His written report was very prompt and thorough. He is very easily accessible via phone and email. We were fortunate to find LeRoy on a web search - he has an impressive website. We would very highly recommend LeRoy to anyone needing a home inspection!"

"St Croix Energy Solutions conducted an inspection and identified an improvement plan that included: 1) adding insulation to our Wisconsin attic. Some places had only 4-6 inches of blown in insulation. This was increased to the level recommended for our cold winters. 2) Spray foamed the sill plate cavities and drafting areas. The company went above and beyond, working in very tight areas to produce a fantastic result. Communication was timely, the workers were organized and professional, and the job was completed quickly. Its no wonder construction teams recommend them. They should be first on your list."

"Our house was built in 1941. We not only felt we needed to do waterproofing but needed a radon extracting system, sump pump, dehumidifier, wall paneling and new windows with window wells. The project worked like clock work with members of the American Waterworks team. Only have 3 windows and small section of paneling to finish. Paneling can't be finished until new water line is installed. All will be completed when windows arrive. In 1 yr. American Waterworks will come back to check all is working well. Extensive project that wasn't cheap. We felt we got our money's worth!"

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Eau Claire, WI

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
