"We live on a large wooded lot in Orinda and have been fighting rodent problems since we moved in 7 years ago. When we first moved in we hired a contractor (for $500) who came out, installed a few screens and set some traps, but did not solve the problem; of course follow-up calls went unanswered. We then worked with a handyman contractor over the last several years, looking for entry points into the home, sealing them, some more trapping, etc. But still the problem continues. We found We Care Pest Control on Angie's List, contacted them to see if they would service our area. This company has a coupon available ($250 for 3 visits) but we offered to pay $50 more then their normal price since we are not in their service area. We Care Pest Control was able to schedule the first visit within two days of our call.
Allen Q arrived as scheduled and performed a thorough inspection of our home with our handyman contractor. Allen was knowledgable, professional, friendly, and worked well immediately with our handyman contractor. Together they identified numerous locations where rodents were entering under the house, and discussed repair options to prevent. This includes digging about a foot below the foundation, installing heavy screen and concrete.
Today (November 7, 2012) we have several repairs in progress - expect to finish in another week. We Care Pest Control will come out for one more visit to inspect the work and clear the traps, hopefully catching all the rodents that are already under the home. We have some clean-up to do throughout the house and then we will see what transpires over the next several months. I am hopeful I will be able to provide an update in a few months reporting that our rodent problem has been solved.
Clarification: I believe We Care Pest Control could either perform the repairs or direct you to another contractor who can preform the repairs. Since we have an established relationship with a handyman contractor this was not necessary in our case. If you have a contractor you work with routinely I would recommend you have them meet with Allen Q while he perfroms his inspection; in this way the contractor understands all the details Allen can share about how to prevent rodents from entering your home.
