"Received three in-home estimates, an estimate from Lowe's, and an estimate from Home Depot. While not the cheapest, DMD was not the most expensive, either. We purchased a Pella Designer French Sliding Door with built-in mini-blinds. From the time we ordered the door to the time it was installed took just over five weeks. We love the door, and it has eliminated a draft. The DMD staff was professional and the installation was excellent. Provided two before photos and two after photos. We plan to replace another exterior door in the near future and we will be calling DMD again."

"We chose JDI Windows to replace all our windows and one slider. I researched quite a few companies and decided to call JDI because of all the positive reviews I’d read for them. Deciding on contractors to work on your home is a difficult decision because you really don’t know who to trust. The ENTIRE process was OUTSTANDING! From the initial phone call scheduling Rex to come to our home to discuss our needs through the completion of the project, the communication, professionalism and attention to detail was 100% consistent and positive! Rex spent time with us ensuring we understood what the result would be, how much it would cost, who would do the work and when it would start. Our project was then passed along to Brent, and he came out before ordering our windows to double check measurements and scope of work. The work began when they said it would and took less time to complete than originally anticipated. Our windows are beautiful, energy efficient and have truly changed our home. I would HIGHLY recommend JDI Windows to anyone looking to replace windows and sliders. The product is great, but it is their people that really set them apart from other contractors. They are personable, collaborative and reachable. Brent, Garrett, and Eric performed our install. What impressed us most was their awareness that they were in someone’s home, and every aspect of their behavior demonstrated they were respectful of our home and pets. They worked with us knowing we had pets to shuffle and secure as they moved from room to room. So thankful for that! They also cleaned up as they went and communicated expectations for the next day before they left. It was obvious that Brent, Garrett and Eric really cared about the quality of their work, true craftmanship! Our experience with JDI Windows exceeded our expectations and set the bar really high for other contractors. Thank you to Rex, Brent, Garrett and Eric! We really appreciate you and truly enjoyed working together! Valarie D."

"I had an emergency. The garage door bracket by the tension bar had broke free and the door would not open. I called Foothills Garage Door and within thirty minutes on a Saturday afternoon he was at my house and working. He took one look, figured out what was needed and went to work. The gentleman who did the work was very friendly, knowledgeable and I would highly recommend him to anybody.

FAQs for storm door installation projects in Eldorado Springs, CO

For mobile homes, look for a lightweight storm door designed specifically for manufactured housing. A slimmer frame eases installation and reduces added stress on the doorway, while removable glass or screen panels allow you to switch between airflow and complete protection in minutes. The result is solid weather defense without unnecessary weight and a door that remains easy to operate season after season.

A well-installed and well-maintained storm door can add modest value by improving curb appeal, increasing security, and reducing energy loss. If the door is faded, dented, or hanging loosely, those benefits disappear—and may even harm first impressions. Professional installation ensures the door seal is correctly aligned and keeps the hardware in place, allowing the upgrade to deliver both visual and practical benefits that buyers notice.

Most storm doors last 25 years, and high-end models, when properly cared for, can reach 50 years. Lifespan depends on the frame material, glass quality, and the amount of punishment the door receives from wind, rain, or sun. Regular cleaning, fresh weatherstripping, and prompt repairs keep hinges tight and glass secure, helping the door reach its maximum lifespan.

Allow three to five hours to set a standard pre-hung storm door if the opening is in good condition. If you need to widen the frame or repair wood rot, expect the job to take a whole day to complete. A seasoned installer can complete the job faster and ensure the door sits square, seals tightly, and operates smoothly, saving time that often outweighs the DIY time commitment.

Most single exterior doorways can accommodate a storm door, provided the frame dimensions match those of the new unit. Patio and sliding glass doors are the main exceptions because their tracks won’t support the extra door. If you’re unsure about clearances or hinge placement, consider bringing in a door installer to measure the opening and recommend any necessary adjustments for a secure fit.
